You fags in the in the classifieds need to chill. You guys are running off new members, that's not cool. If it is that big of a deal the mods can make new members first posts be in the noob section, with a simple push of a button. You guys are screwing up perfectly fine for sale ads.

As far as "this isn't Craigslist for Mustangs" why not?? It was Vinnys original idea to build the worlds largest mustang forum. He would love the volume of our classifieds.

The problem is the post whoring ra-tards that have no money and nothing but time to pick apart guys for sale ads. Get a life or a job.

This place is turning into a bigger joke than I like and that's pathetic.

For those of you wondering wft???? Politics and parts for sale has destroyed this site. The Anniversary of Vinny's death has came and passed and no one said a word. It is sad.

hmmmm. ?????? I'm confused. So you don't support this comment you posted in stangbanglist.com thread? Some clarification would be appreciated.

All i said is, if you expect to come somewhere and sell something you could at least introduce yourself. Is that too much to ask?

Metcalf you said yourself, this place is nothing but a fucking classifieds anymore. Do you see any of these newbies coming to the cruise ins? Does any of that shit matter anymore or are we all just here to sell shit?

It's not about post count, but i look here FIRST when i need to buy something because there's a chance that i might know the person selling it to me. That means something to me. I feel better buying from someone i might actually call a friend. If every Craigslister comes here and registers just to sell a fucking car and then we never see them log in again, what's the fucking point of this place? Is this what Stangbangerz.com has been reduced to? Is this what we cruise around with stickers on our cars, wearing shirts and hats for? We're all here just representing the big classifieds section. Anyone who thinks that's why Vinny started this place has missed the fucking point.

Does Stangbangerz own this town because it's the best classifieds in town?

Fuck that shit. I don't log into this place every fucking day to check the damn classifieds. If i had it my way they'd be fucking DELETED from this forum. Then everyone who gives a shit can stick around for what this place USED to be for and everyone else can get the fuck out.

"Do you see any of these newbies coming to the cruise ins? Does any of that shit matter anymore or are we all just here to sell shit?"

D I totally agree with you but to a point when is anyone suppose to go to a cruise in? What the two we have a year, I know were all busy and what not but does anyone get together other than two days a year? I'm not saying we need to have some weekly bs but hell by the time a newb comes on here, gets his ass chewed 4-5 times or even gets on here and read where another noob has gotten his ass chewed who the hell would even want to come to a cruise in........ hell I almost don't want to because of all the bs on here constantly.. it's like living with a bunch of chicks... on no wait I live with a bunch of chicks and half the guys on here are worse than my 4 girls are......

That kind of hanging out used to happen when people around here came here for more than just selling shit. Nobody does any of that anymore. Nobody hangs out at Hooters anymore. I met one of my best friends because of this place. I can't see that happening with guys who come here to sell a car and never come back.

You pretty much have two groups of people on here. You have the people who were here back when it meant something to be part of this forum, and you have people who weren't around in those days and don't understand.

Maybe i'm living in the past and those days are gone.

Where do I fit into those two groups D, I never knew Vin, I came on here two years ago because of you and Kenny.... I still think it means something to be apart of this forum even with all of the cry baby bs that goes on all the time just would be nice if even us eastsiders with as many of us as there are did something every now and then, once a month something...... I remember seeing guys hang out up on beechmont by perkins before I was a memember, never see that anymore..........

Well, you didn't come here and sell something and never come back...I'd say you've contributed more than just a classifieds post.

I don't know what i expect really. I just hate the idea that the only reason people come here is to sell something. I guess i just have a hard time excepting that times have changed and maybe what i come here for isn't here anymore.

Ya know...i'm on a bunch of forums for different shit...the most peaceful and respectful forum i go to is a knife forum....and it doesn't have a classifieds section. The people go there to talk about a common hobby...and that's it. No bullshit, just people with a common interest BS'ing about it.

well they are coming at you like they demand your respect and tell you what you have to do to be part of this site.. This site is just not like it was 2-3 years ago, when everyone had respect for people and vinny told me ,do not bash the guys for sale ad, even if you think price is to high , just go on, or private message him an offer.. You cant go into a forsale ad and do that to newbie's or guys who have been here for awhile. Some guys make a living off moving parts and cars..

All will be fixed soon. There will be a minimum post count before any can READ, let alone post in the classified section.

So if you are a Newbie, I suggest you go make a formal "Im new" thread in the Newbie section.
Then if you are feeling the love, post up pics of your Mustang in the media section.
If you are working on a project car or truck, there is a an Area called, "Projects in Progress" That is a place for everyone to post up the status of their build and and some pictures.
Not sure how to post up pictures? Make a thread in the "General" section asking for help and Im sure our members will lead you in the right direction.
Maybe you have seen a sweet Mustang cruising through your neighborhood and was wondering who it was. Start a post in the "Spotted" area asking if it was anyone on here.

There are many ways to ge to the minimum post count. One way that will not, is posting smiling faces in response to other threads.

Craig, I notice your site is lacking in the for sale stuff. Why not put a "Sell all your Shit on my site" in your signature and have it link to your for sale section?
That way all the one hit wonders that are only here to sell stuff can leave here and make numerous one threads over there. :tard:

I agree about the classified issue, but alot of the people that were on here all the time are not anymore, and as someone else already said about all the stuff that goes on or doesnt anymore, is that a guy cant post up anything without a group of people always condeming his idea, or someone has to always be the one upper guy, and start bashing the person. Someone tries to share something funny of news about something going on and didint realize someone already posted and gets shit from people over it, when all he was doin was tryin to be part of the site. No this is not me, i have posted up things for sale not alot but i have, but i dont even try to post anything else about anything cause i dont want to deal with all the assholes that have a stupid comment. I used to go to the cruises with matt johnson, craigels, been to vinnies for parties back in the day before i ever signed on here. The last cruises i attended were a waste of fuel to get there. NOBODY was there hardely. I dont have a ton of posts but i have tried to help people out with tech stuff posted other thing but the point is there are too many assholes trying to prove they are cool, or better than others and i just get on here now to see how many assholes are running their keyboard at somebody and to check out the classifieds.

There's a reason most major sites have either a minimum post count or time on the site to be able to post ads. It usually has to do with trying to protect members from being ripped off by newbs just looking to make a buck. I don't see a problem with that. Most people understand that concept and its no big deal.

One problem with the classifieds right now, is all the unnecessary comments by people who either, (A)think the price is too high, or (B)they are just making negative comments because they don't like that particular member. That shit needs to stop. If your too friggin cheap to pay the asking price or make a reasonable offer, then just keep your trap shut. If you know of a better deal for some part some place else, go buy it. Don't talk in a person's for sale ad about how they should be asking XXX amount for something because you saw it for that somewhere else. If you just don't like that member, send a PM telling how you feel or whatever. NOT in the ad. How about the classic, I know you paid "X", so why are you asking "Y" for it? That's BS. If you really need to say something like that, again, keep it to PMs.

Well I have my own site, but they are nothing a like. Your right things do evolve but they can go in a good or bad direction. As of now its heading to a bad place.

Man what you're missing is WHY it's heading in that direction, and it's not because a few newbies are getting their balls busted...it's because all that ever happens around here anymore is newbies coming here and selling shit and moving on. There are a couple people who miss the good old days and are tired of watching things fall apart.

I don't agree with busting balls in the classifieds...so the solution is, you either make yourself known to some degree or you put your shit on Craigslist. If the classifieds are all that's holding this place up, then let it fucking burn because nobody gives a shit anyway. If people stop coming around because of a minimum post rule in order to sell shit, then it just shows that the only thing they care about is peddling their junk, and that's the wrong reason to be on this forum.

But, that's just my opinion and it doesn't seem to amount to shit.

That just sucks. I would hope members from this site would act better than that, but there are a lot of "attitudes" here now, so I'm not surprised. Disappointed, but unfortunately, not surprised.

I really hope i don't come off as having some kind of attitude...and i sure as hell don't think i'm better than anybody, but i do feel like there is/was something special here and it's slowly disappearing and it tears me up. I feel like there are a few people who care and a lot of people who just leech off the classifieds, and i remember a time when shit like that wouldn't have happened.

Like i said...maybe what i want isn't here anymore. Maybe this place wouldn't even be here anymore if it wasn't for the classifieds, and maybe that's how it should be. It's just a damn shame.

I agree with the post count rule, not just to keep people from coming and selling shit and leaving but because, Im going to buy a part for example a T-5. I would much rather buy it from someone on here that has post count, or that has been on here for a while. I hate craigslist simply because anyone can put thier shit up, the stuff could be stollen, broken or what ever. Your not going to have that here (atleast i hope)

But i do agree with you are going to have people coming in here and just throwing random smileys or words in a thread just so they can get the post count up. The random posting goes on now, and i wont deny ive done it, and ALOT of people do it. But with a post count rule it will probably be a more common occurance.

facemelter71
02-26-2011, 01:25 PM
Common occurance? I dont think it would be. Im a member on ALOT of forums, mostly gun forums and truck forums, and each one of them have a post count rule before even entering or posting in the classifieds. Either obey,or your done. Thats pretty simple, and the people get along with each other, and there is no post whoring.

02-26-2011, 01:50 PM
Unfortunately there are going to be these problems with or without the minimum post requirement. Like others have said, you're going to have people posting just to up their post count so they can post up there items. Ive seen it on wayyyy too many forums that have this. And yeah, you can have a admin watch over the post whoring but then you have admin getting pissed cause they have to babysit grown ass men acting a fool. I tend to agree with Metcalf myself. You guys are scaring away potential long time members that could contribute a lot to the site. I know not a lot of guys are familiar with forums and introductions. You have guys just straight tearing the guy a new one and he might have all the knowledge in the world or be one of the best guys you'd meet. Then after a few people roast his ass he wants nothing to do with us. You never know what a noob has to bring to the table until you get to know him. A simple, "Hey man, I know you're new here and all so Im just letting you know. Here is the introduction section(Insert Link Here), go post up about you and your ride so we can get to know you." If they refuse, then lock their ad's and let em bounce. There is no need for our members to get in fights over this. :bigthumb

Why does it matter if a noob post something forsale? I needed something on 460ford.com and I missed out because I was new with a post count rule. The more parts forsale the better chance of finding a good used part you need.

Because you are trying to give some amount of protection for your members. Its not fool proof, and doesn't guarantee anything, but it can't hurt. Its easier to screw someone on a deal that you don't know and probably will never see again vs. a fellow member you have seen or know, and will most likely see again.

^^ exactly. Anyone with any kind of reputation won't screw another member over because nobody else will ever deal with them again. Strangers who are only here to sell one thing don't give a damn if they never plan on coming here again.

You guys who are all about the classifieds, i would think you would see the benefit in this and want it to happen.

Also...the classifieds should be looked at as a members privilege, not a come-one-come-all free for all. Otherwise what separates this place from Craigslist?

The Mustang in your Avatar looks like its getting some work done to it. Why not go to "Projects in Progress" and post up some details on it? All of us members LOVE seeing other projects coming together and following along with you as the build progresses. Not only will your post counts increase, but it will also solidify your standing as a Legit SBZ member AND gain you more respect when you do start selling some of those left over parts. :bigthumb

40 posts and 3 months before you can access the classifieds would work for a "small" forum such as this.

No thread bumping either. Also certain off topic forums can be set so the random posts don't count, aka a "noob" section.

Also need a FAQ in the "noob" forum explainly the restrictions to access the classifeds and if the post count is abused you get a seven day vacation.

Make a post in a different section trying to sell something, it gets locked and you get a warning. Attempt it again and KNOWING you're not supposed to post it, 30 days in the hole.

Yes this will require some babysitting, it is part of the thankless job being a moderator.

ALSO a new rule we are using on my home forum, pics of the part or car must be posted at the time of the original post, if not the thread gets locked. A price MUST be included, this will stop most of the "how much?" and "got pics?" posts.

Another thing, about 1/2 of the users have never posted. Could easily trim a 1000 users. Like everyone with zero posts and last visited date of 12/31/2009 or earlier.

There can also be a different set of guidelines for access, like one year of activity and 15 QUALITY posts.

My fear is it could be too late to turn everything around. It takes work/time to keep everything smoothed over. Imagine a forum 10 times or more bigger than SBZ?

i can see both sides of this. I know we all like to get good deals so i dont really see an issue with the sale ads. I would love for a first time poster to sell me his 95 cobra for 3500 bux. I believe there is a way to fix it other than bashing the guy to death and making sure hes not part of the forum. When the thread is started you just simply ask him to put some info about himself and his car in the noob section. If this doesnt happen then remove the thread. I could give two shits if he has 50 posts as long as someone is getting a deal. last i checked this is a mustang site and if someone has mustang related items to sell then i would say its on the correct site

Government is not the answer lol

Not sure why this is even an issue. So what, you have a few people who come here to post up their mustang related parts. Take it as Craigslist condensed for you giving you first dibbs. The only problem I see here is a handful of members blowing up because they can't have it their way. You don't like the for sale ad ignore it and go on with your life. You cause your own issues.

The way I view it is as long as these people don't come on here trying to start drama why should you care.

If you're worried about whether there is a risk in getting ripped off look at the seller's post count and history. Also if you can't tell if a part is good or not upon inspection maybe you should do a bit more research. There is always risks associated with used parts and it's better than buying from Ebay.

Quit complaining and use your energy to organize a Ford meet for March. On the local Subaru forum we usually have monthly meet's/drives.

Just my two cents. Look forward to meeting more of you this year:bigthumb

One thing that you have to realize is that 99 percent of all mustang forums the guys posting and selling have never met or even raced at the same track. You don't have to hang out with guys to have a successful website. The fastest way to kill a website is to crush people as soon as they come on he site. i have a good example of what im talking about, i put a for sale ad on there probably the beginning of last summer, i got banned because it wasnt in the "proper" format that they use over there or whatever and i had no idea about the format, and i included everything anybody would need to kno about what i was selling, thats just plain out ridiculous if you ask me, i got banned for 6 months on that website, and it seems like every post i look at on there, everyones over there dogging the new guys for posting stuff and the majority of the stuff they newbis are posting is questions or selling stuff, even in the right format that they want and they still dog them, its kinda ridiculous and thats why i said this is starting to remind me of cincystreetscene because of all the bashing

I have to agree with this.

If you're buying or selling parts for a Mustang, isn't it better to have a local place where you can get what you need and maybe even drive over there and pick it up? If I need a part, I don't care that the person doesn't have 10000 posts...I just care that someone has what I need local and I can get it.

This just seems to be a lot of complaining and complexity for no good reason. This happens every year...people start getting cabin fever and have to find something the complain about. Spring is a few weeks away...it's almost time to go racing again.

I don’t see a problem of having a specific number of posts before selling items on the site. But also I think a specific time limit as a member would be a better way of doing it. "Not everyone finds it necessary to post on every thread". Concerning the negative comments made towards new members and the for sale items in the classified areas there’s already rules in place that need to be enforced. Some Individuals think that a high post count means their experts on all matters and they feel a need to voice their opinions on every thread. Look in the for sale sections and you'll see those I speak of.

I think that a 40 post limit is reasonable. I bet most people could accumulate that many posts defending themselves to most of the criticism new members can expect from some of the people on here. If you pay attention to the posts, you will see that the people with the extremely high post numbers are the same people who are quick to run others down for spelling errors and other bullshit complaints. Instead of waiting for a chance to run someone down, try making them feel welcome.

Exactly! I find it odd how the person with a 5000 post count "who obviously lives on the site" makes it a point to correct the spelling of the guy posting a question or commenting on a thread. Maybe those with a lower post count in these cases are because they spend their time actually working on their cars and not talking about it. I'm not referring to all with a high post count as there’s a lot of good members on the site who know what they’re talking about. The spelling B contestants need to find a book club to join. Who cares if the individual misspelled a word?

Yeah I don't remember it being mandatory to make an introduction.

All im saying is the bashing in the classifieds really isnt that big of a problem. The problem is when people bash a build thread, repair question or any number of other things that members do. Now im not saying im a perfect member. But I always look at the tech questions and offer to help in any way possable. I try to be a MEMBER not a spectator. When I look at this site in general I dont see many big problems. Mostly its the people that just sit back and look for things to point out wrong. I know thats already been stated. Somthing I havn't see anyone mention is the lack of respect for people property. By property I mean: A build thread, tech question, oppinion of paint color, wheel combos. Most of these are usually cool to help with. It also helps get to know other members, Right? These threads have been few and far between. I bet 85% of every member could start a build thread. Due to the lack of respect, they dont? I and im sure there are others that tend to not offer much info because of a few D-BAGS that think they know everything about everything. I will be the first one to name names METCALF is a pain in the ass!!! A good guy, hard worker but has overstepped his bounds with me and lots of others. I think most of you would like my plans with the capri. But for myself I will limmit the details of my build to get around making my blood presure sky rocket.

I have looked at a lot of posts whether it be a classified or any other post and your username is almost always associated with negativity. Maybe if you ease up and overlook some stuff, it would make it a little more welcoming on here. And as far as the comment to the "newb" making an introduction before maximus sees it, can you tell me who fucking cares about what maximus thinks. I dont see a lot of posts on here from him lately. Maybe everyone would be better off if we let him phase himself out. Just a thought. This site is going to change. Some may like it. Some may not. Just dont condemn another person for how they spell or what their oppinion is. If spelling is an issue for you, take a minute to look at your kids or nieces and nephews cell phone messages. There is where your spelling tutoring is needed.

A lot of the old members have stopped coming because of all this stupid drama.

But hey, i showed up in a fucking Festiva with a bicycle on the back so i don't wanna hear shit from anyone about not coming out to represent

Once my car is back on the road you guys will get sick of seeing me in it, posting pics of it, etc etc. I haven't had any Mustang news to report on in a year so when things pick back up you guys will get tired of seeing my screen name.

On the other hand It is not good business to bash the crap out of the guy who just posted a for sale add. I feel it goes both ways the last I had with the last time this happened was the seller BLEW up after some members got on his case about only posting in the classifieds. I just got on a new forum and wanted to post my car up for trade and they had a 30 day 25post minimum. I figure I will hang out there for a little while and ask some questions and learn a bit while I wait for my months worth of time to go by.

I have been a member about a year now and use to go to the cruizes before I even became a member. I was talkin to a couple members from dayton yesterday when I went to sell them some seats and they said they'd love to come to the cruize ins but like last year they said milford was just to far for them. Maybe there's a place more centrally located we could have to be fair to everyone. And I'm always down to meet up, cruize, or even just hang out and talk about cars. I'm not gonna say I know a lot, but I'm learning. And love learning new stuff whenever I can. Epecially about stangz. I first fell in love with cars when my dad bought his (I believe an 85 gt) mustang. The last year they came from the factory with the 4 barrel. And yes, I grew up in a ford family, and man did anyone who showed up to family gatherings hear about it if they came in anything but a ford, lol. I would like to say though that last year when I had pauls automotive do some work on my car, that I was bashed when all I was tryin to do was thank them. Yeah, I wish I could've done the work myself, but I don't know enough to do something like that. But there was no reason to bash what I paid and criticize me for not letting someone cheaper do it. I have never bashed anyone, nor would I. And after that, yeah I stayed away for a while cause that really pissed me off that people would bash me for something like that. I'm here to make friends, learn more about cars, and be a part of this great mustang forum.
