I got rid of my TKO and put a T5 in my car. The engine is not in the stock location so I mocked up the cross member and trans mount to see what was going to have to be done to get it bolted down. After I did this I noticed a huge gap between the trans mount and the trans on the drivers side. The flat surface on the trans where the mount is supposed to bolt is on an angle. Its easier to just look at the pics to see what I'm talking about.

The engine is sitting level, the cross member and mount are level so whats the deal? The trans is bolted in and everything else about the trans is level except right there by the mount. Is this tail shaft housing not for a mustang?

is that a bolt together bell?

Its a Mcleod blow proof bell. The bell bolts to the block plate but you can't clock it. It only goes one way.

Does the engine just not sit as level with a T5 as it does with a Tremec? The engine is sitting exactly how it was when the TKO was in it. It bolted up fine.

think its a cam/firebird tail housng , looks like to me.
gm tilted there trans which would make the mount flat.

Hmm, I will go out there later and get the number off of the tail housing and see if I can figure out what it is online.

This sounds like the diagnosis. SHould be level if its from a mustang.

Bolt it up , its preloaded for all that torque you're making.

If the shifter is that far off you'll have to shift from the passenger seat.

I'd have to agree with the tailshaft being for a GM vehicle. I tan a T5 originally and then went to a 3550. The only issue I had was having to make the cross member slide all the way to the rear on the bushings and I had to shim the mount up on the tranny about an 1" or so. Mine was flat with the T5 and the 3550.

I got it figured out last night. Its a G force case and it has a few different sets of holes in it instead of just four like a regular case. I was using the wrong holes. I don't know why there are two sets of holes that are the same pattern. I figured the other holes were for a different bell housing. Oh well, its fixed now. Thanks for the help guys!

Yeah I dont like Tremec's and I always wanted a G force. Just didn't want to spend the money on a new one. They are hard to find used, especially face plated. I have been keeping an eye out for one for a couple years now and finally got this one a few weeks ago.
