a budget would be good. :D and maybe your goals for the car.

mod motors are like most others. Some nice long tubes, a PI swap, free flowing exhaust and a gear in the back will be a good start. Follow it up with some tuning to get everything playing nicely with each other.

What does a pi swap consist of, I was told it has a gear my speed is off by 25 MPH at 65 my speedometer reads 90

Most people put PI heads on the NPI motor for it's compression gain, use the PI intake and cams as well.

The heads also flow better. That should be your first major upgrade on a npi motor. you could throw a nice set of cams in there while you have it apart too. then all the bolt ons and then a turbo :)

even if you just did the PI cams and intake you will notice quite bump in power. The NPI heads have a more restricted exhaust flow but a slightly better flow then the PI. Start looking over on modularfords.com for more ideas.

The PI to NPI debate is a big one, the advantage I see on a budget is you can find a good condition set of PI heads still, NPI's will almost always need rebuilt. NPI you have to have 96+ or you cannot do anythign good with the cams (except old model comps and a custom grind) the exhaust retainer will bottom out at even stock PI cam lift. If budget isn't the issue go Trick Flows and forget about stock heads.
