Stage II Detroit Rocker cams (SC grind) this spring on the S/C'd 3valve. Having to redo a clutch as well since something has oddly gone wrong with how it seated with less than 6K on it. Allowed more than spec'd by maker for break in.
Marauder is doing some kind of modular project as well.

Was going to do stage 2 comp cams (sc) and a Kenne Bell, but we can not sell our house with this great economy so it looks like the money for the project is going to become a down payment for a new house. Oh well, got the JLT and 4.30's.

I'm putting a 3.3L Lysholm/Vortech on my 4V Fox road race car. Once we get numbers off that it will get a mid mount 76mm turbo.

Trying to scrape money for a PI Swap and headers, won't know if it'll happen this spring as planned or not until I file my tax returns. Right now I'm just limited to handling upgrades, and hopefully finish some minor cosmetic things.

I've wanted to do that since I heard the first word about those heads.. Most people think N/A 2 valves are slow

Nope stock with the pistons fly cut by me. I din't change any of the bearings because they looked great, Oil pump looks like brand new inside and out. Not even putting new rings on it.
The money is going into arp main and head studs. The heads I traded for they are modular head shop stage 2's with stainless valves and bronze guides. The cams I had custom ground by bullet. I am going to try the trick flow intake on it however I may do a PI intake swap after I get it running to see which works best for it. All I need to finish the engine are valve covers.

Not slow at all. They just don't make the torque that a 5.0 pushrod makes but that isn't really a bad thing. Where the mod 2v lacks in torque it makes up in RPM range (red line 6200-6300) and HP. You can wind the mod motor tighter, make more horsepower and compensate by properly gearing the car for the desired torque at the rear wheels. Not uncommon to see mod motors running 4.10 or 4.30 gears where as a 5.0 more commonly run 3.73 or 3.90 gears with respect to street driving. I ran 4.10's in my 02 and it caught lots of people off guard. Not a show killer 10, 11, or 12 sec car but way faster than many assumed. A great little car all around.

Mine will probably see upwards of 8000 RPM. I'm guesstimating that it will need 4.88 gears and 26" tires for the track.

Yes I do however they need to be windsor so they have to be off a 99-00 mustang with the driver side oil fill. Let me know if you have a spare set.

Nice, I may pick your brain when I start into my build. Any estimate to the #'s you'll be putting down?
I would love to have mine built normally aspirated and making around 300bhp. I don't know whether I could get away with a cheap PI swap, or if I should invest in a modified set of heads and cams to get me to that goal. Is it even possible with a head swap/ cam/ intake mani/ headers (Currently I have a 98 NPI Motor) to put down those numbers? My driving style isn't drag racing or auto cross, half the time I drive like a granny. I just want a little extra power.

I still haven't touched my 2V much. Hopefully will when it gets warmer out. Going to redo the exhaust some. Replace some seals and do a few interior mods. Then get a bigger MAF and hopefully hit that magic 600 mark

My old PI setup made 350+ to the wheels in factory stock trim.
flat top pistons, teksid block, 03 cobra rods, stock GT cast crankshaft, UNported PI heads, stock lift cams but with more duration, PI plastic intake manifold, 70 mm throttle body, 80 mm MAF, longtubes, 4.88 gear. Its definitely possible, and a lot easier than you would think. ;)

I'm not real sure what to expect since I haven't really seen anyone do it yet. I am hoping to see 375 RWHP on 93 and maybe a little more with race fuel. If I end up having to go with a face plated transmission I will probably end up switching out the stage 4 cams for something bigger too.

Shouldn't be a problem. Bolt ons and tune mine was making 250. They love LT's and a stage 2 cam swap would very likely get you to that 300 mark or REAL CLOSE. Some port matching on the Intake elbow and some minor clean up work on a pair of PI heads and you are there for sure would be my guess. BTW that head is still yours that we talked about. No rush - it and the stang are frozen in the garage right now LOL! Can't get the old door open due to the snow piled up around it.

well the ones i have are windsor but they are passenger side fill. why do you have to have driver side fill?

I need driver side fill because the passenger side is completely covered. The fuel lines come out right where the oil fill would be.

Yep, my neighbors 97gt is somewhere around 285hp/300lbft with PI swap and LT's if I remember right.
With this snow and crap weather it is so hard to get up there to pick that up, but I still plan on it.

How low of compression?
i have a NPI block with stock crank forged rods and pistons with valve reliefs for big(ger) cams. also have some stage 3 livernois heads, so i should be running some pretty high compression. havent figured how much yet. still trying to decide on an intake for it though. after that its on to the rear end with a LSD, 31 spline axles and a 3.73 gear.

4.10s or bust... :chicken:
HPS is what you need but you already know that. you also need a nice set of turbo cams. with the livernois being ported the way they are it should drop your compression a lot. and you need to learn how to drive ;)

Just 8.5:1 so it will make decent power on about 12lbs of boost. Then crank the wick up later on with a larger fuel system and have fun with her. But I change cars like underwear, who knows if it will be around that long.

didnt we get identical times with my car my first time at the track? :flipoff:
and i e-mailed the riechard racing people about theirs and no one got back to me so im thinking theyre not the real deal. so that narrows it down to either the p 51 or the HPS

Stage II Detroit Rocker cams (SC grind) this spring on the S/C'd 3valve. Having to redo a clutch as well since something has oddly gone wrong with how it seated with less than 6K on it. Allowed more than spec'd by maker for break in.
Will also be adding Kennebell BAP and colder plugs as well. Got quote today and the total quote is lower than expected. So may also be considering LT's and catted X-pipe as well. Taking car in March 3,4. Hoping for 450+RWHP and 415+ RWT. Should be no problem getting over the 450 mark since currently at 427RWHP with stage II F/I setup on otherwise stock engine.
Looking forward to finally having some lope in that idle. LOL!
