Motor ID

I know I have seen this in here before but how do you id a motor. I'm pretty sure it's a 302

I think you can use the #s on the block right above where the starter mounts on the pass side. Thats to find out the year and stuff i couod be wrong though.

There should be numbers on a ledge around the water pump/timing cover area that will tell you also.

the id number and year of the block is under where the starter bolts on.

The 4th character should be an E. All i can tell from that number is its a 1980 engine. Not sure on CID though. Are there any numbers on the intake?
