My stereo in my '04 Ranger is going south... the cd player is acting up and making me play "whack-a-mole" with the CD as I try to grab it before it sucks it back in the player... and im tired of it. It has a tape deck which I LOVE.
Are there any CD/cassette double DIN stereo's out there still?????
I found a Pioneer (which I prefer) That I really like but cant find it anywhere!
It was model FH-P4200MP, and I like the look of it, not to fancy...
Any other options out there?

I'll have to ask the misses where she got mine but it looks like a cassette with a cord on it, plugs right into your Ipod...... I love mine and I didnt really want to change the factory unit in the truck...... $4.00-$40.00

Ohh I've got one of those... I thought you meant a cassette player that plugged in with a cord, not a cassette tape that plugged into a CDplayer/ipod...

just load all of your cd's on your Ipod and don't worry about the cd player :O)

find a regular single din and buy a install kit on line. I find them cheapest at amazon

I lovvvveee my CD and cassette though... it would be even better if it had 8 track... but that's going back too far... lol I suppose I could always use a pocket for storage there under the radio...

You should be able to find them still on Crutchfield.com. Seems I recall that Clarion and Pioneer may still make a combo setup. If not I am sure you could find some overstock NIB units like that on ebay. Good luck.

I am sure sarah will want me to swap the radio out of the ranger for a better one. Talk to her nice and you may end up with another stocker. Mine is a 2000 though, however it does have both cassette and cd.

replacing a radio in a ranger is sooo easy. like bobsgt said, probably easiest to buy a single din radio, and get the installation kit. crutchfield has a nice selection, and they give the free install kit and wiring harnesses. the ranger radio isnt actually a "double din" its more like 1.8 din or something. lol. if you want to install a double din radio, you will have to file/trim some of the front bezel down so it will fit. it fits, but requires a bit of work. if you need help with the install let me know man. all you have to do is take out the two screws under the ac/heat controls, then that entire front bezel pops off, radio and everything. u just have to unplug the cigarette lighter and the 12V power supply port (if you have one). otherwise you can use the removal tool and the unit will slide right out, but its easier to take that entire bezel off.

Hmmm... didnt know there was a such thing as a 1.8 din... but I'll go with it. Yeah I might do a single deck style with pocket below it... I just want to listen to cassette tapes too... but I guess if I get a stereo that has a USB plug I can get a tape adapter... lol
