So i finally get to make a build thread. I've said i was going to do this for a couple of years now.

How do you all like the name? It will apply when i get the car force fed and also, the damn thing is forcing my money to part with my wallet. lol

Well i have a car that I like alot so I'm planning on keeping this fox for a while.

I took a chance on buying this car. I did not know hardly any history on it. I am sure there will be some suprises along the way. There already has been a few.

So what we have here is 90 Mustang GT.
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm104/2kblacksleeper/90%20Mustang%20GT/2010-12-28_09-25-28_568.jpg

I really like the color combo. Later on I will get with one of our resident paint guys to add a little flair.:evilflip:

I have come to find out that it does not have the original motor in it. It has a 302 out of a lincoln. It also has a 3550 trans in it. (my first stick car)

I bought it in a barely running condition. It stumbled and bucked getting it on the trailer. I took it to my buddys house and he is helping me with alot of the things i am sorting out.

After talking to a previous owner that gave me alot of insight.

It was wired up wrong from the distributer. It was wired up ad a 302HO and should have been a non HO 302. So we rewired it. Pulled the pill and set the timing at 12*. It runs like a F-N champ now. I am going to replace all the plugs and stuff since alot of them got soked in fuel and also that way I know what is in there.

Stuff i need to fix before i really start driving it:

Adjust clutch: It enguages just off the floor.

Change seats: They are not my kind of seat. Not chubby guy friendly.

Get all of the guages to work: aftermarker tach and water temp guage does not work.

Then some small odds and ends. Then i can enjoy it through out the spring and summer.

Ultimate plans are to get either a 351, or an aftermarket block then rebuild it and then turbo it. May even swap in a built auto.

Here are some randon pics:

Did the previous owner tell you what kind of Lincoln the engine came from?

If it was a Mark Vii, it will be a 5.0 HO, with the correct firing order

If it was anything else, like a town car or etc. then it will not be a 5.0 HO and will have the standard firing order/cam/heads/pistons.

Although both are still roller engines. Are your spark plug wires on 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 or 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8?

I had a Grand Marquis engine in my old '89 GT, and if I recall correctly, I put the wires on 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 because of the engine firing order.

It fired right up when I switched it to the old firing order.

It looks close though. My hood doesn't go all the way to the windshield.
Other than it being a coupe in the vid its close. Its still a good video to watch.

Great looking car and should be a really cool project! Glad to hear you got it running right (did you tell your chevy guy that it is really a chevy motor in disguise? lol) but I would still get some new headlights for it.

Yea, Snake i told him. I had to argue with him for a minute.

He said that there were 2 302s.
The car which was the old firing order and then the truck which is the HO version.

Just splitting hairs i guess. We got it running though. Ive been sick and not able to go out there and work on it some.

I think about stuff i want to do to it everyday.

Now im debaiting on doing a on3 kit. Or doing a 357 for now then boosting it in a year or two.

Too much to think about. Ive got lots of time. Just not enuf money to match.

yea, I have had that argument before, but engines are engines to me. Still glad to hear you got it running.... but I vote for the 357, probably because I know where one is sitting hehehe. You have lots of time to make plans!

If I could find a good deal on a good 351-357 I'd try to work out a deal. Some thing that's already been rebuilt or good to go with maybe forged pistons?

Any thing comes up feel free to let me know. I've got a little money saved up. Or a 331 or 347? Lol. Needs to be a good deal though.

If/when you are ready for a 351... I have a short block .030 over (357 now) sitting that could use a good home John :D

Well............Snake, I kind of already just bought something today. lol

I bought Brads bes 347. We are going to throw it in the car in a few weeks. Its going to be the 347 with some Dart heads for now.

I cant believe i went complete opposite of what i was planning. But for the deal i could not turn away. It should be a fun quick little car.

I need some fabricated valve covers if you know of a decient deal out there?

So i will run this for a little while and then pick up a dart block and then go force fed. lol.

93 snake do you still have that 357 for sale?

Well not much to report as of yet. I have been collecting parts.
Picked up a manual rack, Dart heads, A1000, Solid roller lifters, Blow proof bell housing.
42lb injectors, Maf,
I'm working on an intake. Efi Spyder type.

I also need front suspension. I figure i might as well swap out the k member and arms since i will have everything out anyway. Another month then I should have that.

I am having trouble with some wiring issues. I have a buddy helping but it is hard to work it out time wise. We work completely different schedules.

I dont know crap about wiring so i am relying on him. I'm willing to learn but I am wanting to drive this car so bad. lol

nice find. good luck with it

Why an efi spyder intake?

2Kblacksleeper
04-10-2011, 02:16 PM
I know my trick flow will not flow enough air for the motor. I found a super victor with an elbow and fuel rails for a decent price.
Then I could also throw a 4150 plate system for a little suprise. Lol

If I could find another deal I wouldn't rule it out. The dart heads are already ported to match 1262 gaskets.

Which tfs intake do you have now?

2Kblacksleeper
04-10-2011, 10:21 PM
Street.

In Brads car the motor was still making power with him shifting at 7k. So i dont want to choke it down.

I plan on going with an aftermarket block in a year or 2, so i would like to just swap stuff over vs having to buy all over again.

John
