need help ASAP

my old truck has a 68 302 and had 289 heads with flat tap cam and i just put a set of ported e7 casting heads on with bolt down rockers and now the rockers are really loose is there something special i have to do to put newer heads on a older block? it has the flat tap pushrods and every thing on it still and i cant get the rockers to tighten up please help im stumped:mad:

the e7s also had cobra bolt down rockers on previous car and were fine

Sounds like your pushrods are too short. There's a good chance that the E7s are either taller or maybe the 289s have been milled in the past. You may need to get a pushrod tool and measure it out. I'm not positive but there could also be a difference in lifter height between the two also. I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will chime in once they wake up ;)

Yeah sounds like the pushrods are to short. You`ll need the adjustable pushrod to check your valvetrain geometry. And you can buy almost any length of pushrod once you figure out the right length.
