View Full Version : Red 9 Fabrication and Speed
www.Red9Fab.com
It’s been a long time getting everything up and running, but since we officially turned the website live this afternoon, I guess it’s time to formally announce that my new shop, Red 9 Fabrication and Speed is open for business.
We are a full service fabrication and high performance shop, with 12,500 sq. ft of shop space at 935 2nd Ave in Dayton KY (http://goo.gl/maps/Vz9K).
We have full metal fabrication capability, mig or tig and can fabricate in mild and chromoly steel, aluminum and titanium. We are also capable of composite work in fiberglass and non-structural carbon fiber.
In addition to our fabrication capability, we also are a full service high performance shop, capable of basic installs like gear swaps and clutches, but also capable of off the shelf or custom fabbed supercharger and turbochargers, plus suspension, brakes, wheels/tires etc. Of course we’re also happy to do general maintenance and repairs on any performance cars, import and domestic.
Stop by and check the place out when you’re in the area, or call me or my business partner, Mike Karwath at 859.292.7339.

So Gene how long after I get the new toy home are you guys going to want it?
Thanks everyone! It's been a ton of work getting everything up and running. We really wanted to have the place "complete" (or at least as near as possible)before officially opening. As I have learned with past projects, you can get too busy too fast if you're not careful, and then you wind up having to put off the upgrades and construction until you "have time", which usually never comes.

Whenever you're ready...enjoy it for a few days at least before putting it under the knife. :D

Congrats Gene, I would hate to have to pay for the heating bill on that place for one month. Thought you guys were just off road stuff?

I'm curious, too, but thought I might not want to know!
Thanks everyone!
What does red 9 mean or stand for?
It doesn't really have a meaning. We were trying to think of a name that we liked that wasn't already taken, something that we could brand as we developed our own line of products (part of our goals are to have a full line of fabricated components, suspension pieces, parts for off-road trucks, etc in the next few months).
After we came up with it, we decided that the back story is that the Ferrari 458 Italia's redline is 9000rpm, but really we just thought it sounded good and we could make a cool logo for it. :D

Thanks, Mike. Luckily the offices are heated on a separate furnace and a/c than the shop, so it won't be too bad (I hope). The building is pretty well insulated...I've been keeping it at 58° in this recent cold snap and it's very comfortable. Plus with the amount of space we have indoors, I don't have to keep opening and closing the garage doors to bring stuff in which helps to keep the place warm.
A big part of our current business is off-road, but my background and passion is still firmly rooted in road-racing and drag racing. The same fundamentals and skills cover all forms of motorsport, especially on the fabrication end. Plus it's a lot more fun to be able to work on a 25.5 chassis Mustang one day and a King of the Hammers rock-racer the next. Keeps it interesting. :)

Here's an Audi 4000 that we did for the 24 hours of Lemons.

We're starting on a SFI 25.5 NMRA Real Street car project next week. I'll have to confirm with the car's owner, but we'll probably be doing a build thread on it.

Is that like a race, for clunkers, or just Audi?

It's exactly what it sounds like. Racing for low cost cars. $500 plus the cost of safety equipment. You can realistically build a Lemons racer for about $3-4000. I went to the one at the Toledo Speedway last year with my cousins. It was a blast.

Thanks, Ian. Drop by and visit when you have a chance.
Mike will be racing, but I probably will be stuck here manning the fort. I do have a pit pass just in case...I may fly out for the actual race but I won't be out there for pre-running and such. :D
