I'm looking into picking up an air compressor for the garage. I want something big and powerful enough for big jobs like porting heads and whatever else. It also needs to be somewhat portable. I know almost nothing about compressors so this thread is your chance to school me on them. What are the good brands? What should I be on the look out for, good and bad??
Thanks, Mark

yep, pay attention to the scfm ... square cubic feet (per) minute ... you need a bigger tank for porting and running a da ... a 60 gallon should be sufficient ... probably around 14+ scfm's ...

find a good name brand compressor and buy the biggest warranty you can ... that way you're not buying 2 of them within 2 1/2 yrs like me ...

cheapest Eaton is $1,000, ouch!

If I had a shop, maybe.

BTW if you are porting, get a Metabo 700, it's cheaper to run off 120 VAC.

Thing is you buy a quality compressor you should be able to pass it on to your kids
