I am getting a backfire from the motor when it is cold it hardly does it at all but does it alot when it is warm.
Could it be from the header gasket? I used copper rtv and maybe did not get a good bead putting it on? This is the first time I have done this. Any other suggestions?

Got all your plug wires on the distributor correctly (firing order - HO/non-HO cam) ?? And also routed to the correct plugs ??
Timing where it should be w/spout out ?? Balancer hasn't spun the outer ring or anything ??

Timing is set at factory 10 degrees BTDC and is rock solid. Engine vacuum at idle is 17-18 and is steady, so all of that is good. That leaves exhaust/emissions or fuel. Will check the balancer too.

Mine used to do it, right after start-up and would go away, after the engine was warm. Someone told me, it was sticky valve guides.
