I have this Chevy buddy who is one of those old school types who thinks bigger is always better...big blocks, big cams, etc. He's convinced that the reason my old 302 was faster than his 355 is because my cam was bigger, and doesn't believe he can run 12s until he gets a bigger cam (he's running consistent 13.2s right now babying the hell out of it..it WILL run 12.9s with another driver). I keep telling him there are Mustangs running 11s with stock cam profiles but he doesn't believe me....so lets see some stock cam combos that have gone 12s or better.

I had a buddy who had a coupe with a performer intake,1.7 rockets,373,headers,#24 objectors with matching meter, throttle body and it ran12.8@105 but James on here is going 12.60s with less than that. Lol

I know there's at least one guy going high 11s with an Explorer 302 but he has a big cam in it.

I personally went a string of 12.60's with a best of 12.64@105.58 two weeks ago at Tristate, this is with the stock 5.0 HCI. Curt (12seclx) who is also a member here, is the guy who went 11.80's at over 113 mph with an Explorer motor and a stock 5.0 cam....maybe he'll chime in.
Peace :cool2:

If you are just looking for "stock cam" 302 engines, I would imagine that Mike Bell's real street car would run 11's just on motor.

Nope. They now run .480 lift, any duration cams in Factory Stock. Impressive never the less.

Best was an 11.89 so far. but now it makes more power, so James was doing some math, maybe he'll post up what it would run, I don't remember what he said.

I ran into that guy at Walmart one night when I was out in my car. I think I told you this already. He told me the same thing. It's all about the cam and if you dont have a big cam then your car will be slow.

Yep...he's a really good guy but he's stuck on old thinking and old ways. His truck has a ton of balls and i'm sure it would be quicker with a bigger cam but right now it has so much torque it's a blast to drive.
