Anyone go as far as remove wiring from the harness that's no longer needed?

I'm in the process of tracing wires and removing crap that's no longer needed.
List
A/C controls and wiring
Smog controls and wiring
Fog Lights wiring
Stock Amp and wiring
Airbag controls and wiring
Cruise Control controls and wiring

I have a few unidentified items i'm not sure of what they are, two are on a triangular brace on the driver's side under dash, and one is a yellow box same side with two plugs going into it.
I just started this today so i will be tracing this crap for a few days and cutting out the useless wiring.
Any tips and ideas are appreciated...

I had a 91 ssp notch and it was so gutted for weight that with a half a tank of gas and me(about 200lbs) it weighed in at 2730lbs... They even sheved the arm rests on the doors. I wish you luck in this. That's a lot of wires....

Me and my buddy Kenny did this on my car...i had an entire side of the engine harness almost completely unused. He got under the dash and i got under the hood, he tugged a wire and i traced it to see if it was used, and if not he clipped it off flush at the plug and i pulled it out.

Here's a few progress pics:

Here was the worst part...it got to the point where i was worried about a fire from all these broken and naked wires...not to mention being completely embarrassing to open the hood.

Here's how it turned out...we didn't hide anything, just removed the unnecessary stuff and taped the rest back up.

And here's what it looked like bone stock...

So yeah...a LOT of junk came out that was completely useless.
