There was a prototype Ranger back around 2000 or so that had a lightning motor in it. I'm not sure how many were built, but they were never sold for the street

Lightning Bolt was purely a show truck. If you can ever find some undercarriage shots, EEK! It may have been capable of being driven, but not like everyday or even "spirited" driving, IMO.

Firewall was pushed back some 8" to make room for the accessories and blower. Besides it's just a 5.4 2v, bfd. They're guys out there putting 4.6 4v's in them without modifying much.

Why not just drop a terminator 4.6 in with a whipple and call it done?

Because the Bolt was built back in 01 or 02.
