I need a Mitsubishi alternator rebuilt for my daily driver. The stud for the power wire is snapped off. The stud should be on the regulator so that should be the main thing that needs replaced. Who's got a good place I can take this to??

If you don't mind, post up what it cost to have it fixed. I have an alternator with the same problem.

Take it apart and take the regular down to JN electric and put it in yourself. The last regular I bought there was about 5$

I took it apart today and its a lil confusing lol. The stud is attached to some crazy thing that is also attached to the coil thing that goes around the middle of the whole thing, so its not as simple as replacing the regulator. I didn't get a chance to call them today but I will tomorrow.

Just FYI for the Ky folks, Bowling Generator Service is a good place to take starters and alternators. For a full rebuild it might cost a little more than an Auto Zone 1yr warrenty unit but the one from Bowling will last longer. I've had alt. repaired and the cost has ranged from $11 to $110. The more expensive one had the bearings, regulator (late model electronic module $$$) and brushes replaced, Cleaned the all the parts and reassembled.

Not really impressed with J&N right now. They took 3 days longer than they told me to actually look at it, and now they say its cheaper to replace it which will cost $137 from them. Its not as easy as picking mine up and going to autozone for a $100 replacement, they have an $18 fee just for looking at it!!

I'll take that back. I went in and talked to them later today and it turned out a lil better. It was gonna take 2 days to get the autozone unit and when I went to J&N they had it in stock. J&N had a reman but it was rebuilt by Mitsubishi so I feel much better with that over the duralast junk Im sure autozone would have given me. They also didn't charge that other $18 fee since I bought a replacement through them and they let you keep your old one. I wouldn't hesitate to go back, they will take care of you and if your looking for a rebuild hopefully they can do it cheaper than a replacement.
