I got my motor in my car and I hooked everything up and when i went to start it, it cranked over really slow and never fired up. Another issue I have is when i push the clutch in and its in gear, it wont roll down my drive way, it wont even move. I am not sure what is wrong. Could the T5 be bad or for the wrong car? I am not sure. thanks

Well even if your tranny is bad and is stuck in gear, if the clutch was installed properly it should still roll with the clutch pushed in... Sounds like your clutch is not disengaging... I would check your cable and adjustment first, have someone watch the clutch fork to make sure its moving. If all looks good there then I would pull tranny and check everything.

if the clutch is in wrong that will make the engine not crank correctly. does the car try to move when you are cranking it??

It doesnt seem to want to move. It wont turn over when its in gear and the clutch in. I adjusted the clutch too with the firewall adjuster and where the cable connects to the clutch fork.

sounds like the timing could be out also. move the distributor and see if it gets any better.

Something is wrong, stop and go back and start checking things out before you have bigger issues. Is this a fresh build? New clutch?

Im with you. I've seen people put the clutch in backwards and cause it. Flywheel this side means it for a reason! Sounds like that or clutch adjustment. Either way with the tranny in neutral it should still roll. May be 2 problems...

The T5 he got has been rebuilt; Chas did he say if it even was used or not? His input and output shafts on the tranny wouldn't turn freely, even in neutral. The only way you could turn the input was with a set of locking pliers.

Yeah I've bought some of those rebuilt T5's before too!!! Worked like a champ... For an anchor!

mark do you think it's possible the tranny did what my one in your garage did? Found it's way into 2 gears and won't turn? Just a thought probably not possible.

I dont get paid to go to highschool full time! hahaha but anyways when i went and bought the tranny, i put it in each gear and spun the input shaft and everything was spinning freely and ok. When I went to bolt it up to the bell housing, the input or output shaft wouldnt spin, in gear or out of gear. It was very difficult to spin it even with vice grips. I figured it was because it was bolted to the motor, but even when it was in neutral it was difficult.

- I am not sure if it was used or not, the guy just had a "build sheet" of just a stock rebuilt WC T5 with a 2.95 first gear.

Anyways Ill get the tranny out today after work and give an update.

I don't understand how it goes from being fine to frozen up if you didn't do anything to it at all. Does anybody think it's something other than the tranny as well?

Negetive, that shouldn't be possible with the case sealed and all.

When the tranny is out will the engine turn over better?

I told him to do that, he still hasn't taken it out though.

I put a new pilot bearing in it. It was just a oem one from advanced.
