I wouldn't touch an MMR anything with a 10 foot pole. Yes there are people out there that have bought there stuff and it lived but there are plenty that have bought there stuff and ended up with scrap metal. Livernois seems over priced to me but they have a decent reputation. I don't know anyone with BBR stuff but they seem to do nice work. DSS has some decent pricing on things. I know years ago their short blocks could be hit or miss but lately I haven't heard of any problems. You could also consider Modular Performance up in Michigan. John has a reputation for doing good work.

Yeah i went through DSS and am in the break in period now. I went with the 5.0 Stroker. So far it feels real strong. Time will tell. :)

Why not have one built local?Or at least driving distance? Steve Barker did my current motor.Fast and good price too. 513-724-3288

I got mine for 3600 Shipped to the door in about a week. Everyone around here that I could find with the parts I got wanted about the same or a little more and thats not with the ARP bolts, Manley rods and Pistons. My motor is rated to 800 rwhp but I will not come close to that so I hope it lasts for a long time. I have all together in new parts, Gaskets and all about 3800.
DSS is just in Chicago. There not too far away. I understand that people like to have someone right around the corner for issues but I couldn't find anyone to match the pricing for what I got. And from all the information that I gathered through numerous sites, they have had a pretty good track record with the modulars. Labor prices is what got expensive. Cylinder Resurfacing, engine decking (for flatness), all new bearings, File fit rings and installation of everything is what got me. I have pictures of my shortblock under projects.

I have Steve Barker do all the machine work/balancing and assemble the motor myself. I do have a problem with the only way I can know things are right is to do them myself. Steve does excellent work.

Hind sight is 20/20. I would have asked if I would have known. But for right now I am happy with what I have.

We have had a customer with a real shitty experience with livernois. Terrible customer service.

Yeah i have not heard much good about MMR , well unless your on turbo forums.lol
but id much rather assm the bottom myself, but id just rather get a box in and toss it together too. quailty always goes with price. ad i dont want mmr or livernois to be hoenst.
looking for 4v bottom end to hold 600-800 or so. hell at this point i could more then likely move a few of them..lol

I bought a shortblock from MMR (mod 900). So far the engine is great. Good luck with your build.

Go out to owensville, go right onto 132/276 at the BP. Right before the y in the road is another road on the left (jackson Pike) . Take that road out about 2.5-3 miles his place is on the left. Look for a toy hauler/buss with a freightliner front end IIRC. It's maroon in color. If you pass Hawley road you went too far it is about 1/8 of a mile before hawley.
