I remember back in the day, lot's of people used them cuz they looked cool. They just don't perform very well compared to other aftermarket intakes. Check out any of the old MM&FF mags or other sites for dyno sheets.
Cobra or explorer both will work.

The only GT40 from a 351 I know of is from the lightning truck. And it should be the same as a regular 302 gt40 upper.
Some people claim there is a flow difference between the cobra, explorer, and the actuall tubed piece from Ford Racing. But I have no Idea if there is.

well, if I get this and do it right away it would be victor jr's, gt40 tubular I'd prolly go with a cobra lower.... 1.6 rockers on a stock block, maybe a little cam.... eventually it would be on a 347 with the works not sure on sice of TB or injectors or maf

prolly 65mm tb and maf with 30 or 42lb

Unported, that's nowhere near enough intake for a 347 with victor jrs. Even ported I think there are better options. The sissymax and some of the eddy intakes would work a lot better on an NA app.

Those are some large heads for a 302 with a small cam. That intake will choke the shit out of some Vic JR's.

it's just a thought really, most likely if I got them they would just sit boxed up unti I got a block, I'd prolly do the sissymax as James put it lol or a TF I've just always loved the way that Tubular gt40 looked.......

Im running one and love it. Makes good power from 1500 to 6000 RPMs. Plus it looks bad ass. Im sure there alot of better intakes on the market but for right now Im really happy with the GT40.

Upper intake is the same but lower intake is different. The 351w is wider than the 302

The uppers are all the same, as mentioned it's just the lower that's different. You can use a Cobra lower with the GT40 upper (that's what it would've used anyway as the "Cobra" lower is really a GT40 lower). The upper is still a great intake for a mild all motor build...it won't hang with some of the Trick Flow uppers in higher RPMs but it might make better torque. The biggest downfall to that intake was how crazy expensive it was, and the fact that you can't port the upper which limits what you can do with it.

I keep trying to find the pic, but I stumbled across a flow rate sheet for several common 5.0 intakes (can't find now)... I just found this though. This is a HP sheet comparing GT40 tubular / GT40 exploder / GT40 Cobra intakes...

The only part of the upper that can be ported is the inlet. After that its a no go lol. I have thought about pulling mine off and opening it up to 70 or 75mm...70 might be the max. On that Im not sure

Ok besides the Edlebrock intakes unless you cut them open you cant really port the other intakes listed. Extrudehoned is an option.
As far as the GT40 goes I had one on a 347 with Canfields heads that were ported pretty good and the intake worked fine with and with out the Vortech. And really you are only talking the difeerence in a couple hp. So really unless you like to spend money or looking to get every ounce of HP out of it(which is more money) Use the GT40 and enjoy

I'd be curious to see if that would even help, since in the end the limit is going to be what the tubes themselves can flow. Even if the inlet could open up to 90 degrees it wouldn't matter if the rest won't flow enough to justify it...know what i mean?

I would have to agree with ya on that. It would be nice to know for sure. I believe fox lake has some flow numbers on the gt40 ported and unported...might have to check with them. Thats who ported my lower
