I just finished my garage epoxy project and I will have to say that it is nice! I spilled this morning (after 2 1/2 days of drying) a little oil and it just wiped up and there is no staining or anything. If I would have known that it would be this nice, I would have done it a long time ago. :)

Who all else on here has Epoxied there garage?

I will have to say that's it's very time consuming. I ended up having to buy a gallon of Paint Thinner to strip and pull the oil out of the cement. Then you have to scrub the shit out of it and then use an acid wash. The cement turns white and then its ready. then after painting it takes 2-3 days before you can put your cars back in the garage to ensure proper curing.

But it was worth it. I will take some pics later :)

What product did you use? I helped nxcoupe with the shop floors a couple of years ago. I think the expoxy he used came from Sherwin Williams. It was a real PITA but I think it has held up pretty well.

it's the rustoleum stuff from lowes/home depot. My father put it on his floor 3 years ago and he has a larger and had much worse stains then mine and its held up great. So I decided to try it. It looks great, but you have to follow the directions. Now only time will tell.

I hope to build my new garage next fall and I will epoxy that floor. I've heard good stuff about the Sherwin Williams stuff. There are tons and tons of threads about this on www.garagejournal.com (http://www.garagejournal.com)

I have done both of my garage floors with the Quikrete brand from HD. It went on very easy and looks great! Note though, buy another jar of chips to apply after you paint it. The kit does come with chips but not nearly enough to give it the look I wanted. Other than that well worth the $ and effort!

I'll be doing the quickrete one does it matter the outside temp or ???? I was going to wait until the fall.........

The quickcrete one is oil based I believe. More expensive but will last longer.

still, it don't matter what brand you use, it all looks good and my garage for the first time is clean. I'm happy :)

its all in the prep work. You can buy the most expensive stuff in the world and if you do a half-assed job prepping it the results with not be good.

Temp and humidity will both affect how fast it cures.

I don't know the exact numbers. They'll be on the spec sheet for the container, though.

I've wanted to do this in mine but I have to move the Pinto and eight tons of crap out of the garage first.

I did mine and it sort of has a marbled look to it. looks pretty decent for an ameteur to have done it though I suppose

I just cleaned my garage floor at the house with my floor scrubber. If i had a new garage floor i would look into polishing it

i would say that it will be but thats what the flakes are for. they give a bag of mixed paint flakes to spread and that way it gives a nice texture & some color to break up the plain.

Yeah I've also thought about finding a cool stain to do my concrete in. There is some pretty cool things you can do with stain as well.

they have an anti skid powder that you can add to the expoy to prevent it.

The floor will get slippery when wet, I added some sand/grit to my mix before applying it. Not slippery with that stuff mixed into it.

We did my shop floors, ltos and lots of work, we through sand onto the clear to give it some friction. We waited till the last coat was down and then through the sand on while it was still wet.

You might want to try something like this to clean it up:

I used laquer thinner and all the stains came right up to the surface. Then I used some purple power and Dawn dish liquid and scrubbed the shit out of it. Then they gave a acid was that absolutly ate the top layer of concrete off. ( concrete turned stark white) Then the painting :) this is the process that I used and it got most everything up.

Here is a pic of my garage, and let me tell you, it is nice to work on a car and not need cardboard or creaper to stay clean.
