Does anyone have any experience doing an engine swap using a 4.6 out of a car ? can't seem to find a low milleage truck motor but i can find alot of car motors.also how big a deal is it to put a 5.4 in place of the 4.6?

you either have to pull the body or install with the intake off. the top bell bolts and grounds are unreachable with the intake on. If you swap to 5.4 youll need harness and computer. check interchange on the car motor to truck motor. any junk yard will have that info. i think they are different...

I'm in the middle of the 4.6 to 5.4 swap in my mustang and the motors are not that much different. you can still run the same pcm as long as you still use 2v heads. some little things that are different is the oil sending unit/coolant exit those are different in truck vs car, the fuel rails and injectors are different. you will have to get it tuned if you use your stock pcm because the timing is different on a 5.4 vs 4.6

I just dont trust them because when they are pulling the motor if anything gets stacgged they just cut it. thats why i always keep my harness and use it

I agree, it must be a good yard.

We allways pulled the intake and we had a puller bar that bolted in the lifter vally. This made it real nice to pull on vans and trucks.
