I actually have been working on this project since last December but just did not have the time with getting ready to graduate college, working on the car and working at a job and on the farm to have the time to sit down and post it. But I guess better late then never.
Anyway, I wanted to build a cheap bracket car and after a few months I found a guy that was getting ready to move and he had to sell his car because he didn't have the space for for it at his new place so I got it really cheap. The car was a 1979 fox body, but you would be fooled with the front and rear lights because they are from a 85 or newer fox. It also came with a nice setup, had a carbureted 1974 351W with GT40 P heads an Edelbrock Performer RPM and some other goodies like a nice rearend 8.8 setup, aluminum driveshaft, flaming river manual steering rack and a hurst shifter. But the down side was the owner before had really abused the car and in it was in bad to so-so shape.

Anyway the C-4 tranny only had 2 gears and we did a budget rebuild and put in alto eagle red clutches and kollene steels and then rollerized it, added in a full manual reverse pattern valve body with transbrake and new high stall torque converter (the whole rebuild on the tranny was cheap but cost more than buying the car).
And as I mentioned before the car was beat up a bit, so most of the interior had to be thrown away, and nothing worked in the dash (they did have an oil pressure gauge that was a live line into the car, lol) and so it really only has the 2 front seats, seatbelts and dash. I bought some new autometers gauges and made a gauge plate out of aluminum to fit in the old location and it looks pretty good.
The engine was leaking oil and so we freshened up and fixed the leaks over the winter and finally got the car back together only to find out that the hurst shifter was not fully engaging third, so after days of trying to fix it I just bought a B&M hammer shifter, as soon as I hooked it up I had no more problems.

Oh ya and I forgot to mention it was 3 colors when I bought it, and no not three tone, nasty spots of orange, black and white. Of course my fix was to use $35 worth of rustoleum flat black, then spayed the lights with VHT Night Shades so for $50 I got a full paint job :bigthumb

I'm sure there is stuff I am leaving out but I am going to try to get to edge water this Friday and try it out, just finished tuning it and it seems to be doing well. Last fall I bought a Nitrous Express carb kit for $220 with a filled tank, so plan is to try to get that on after I take it to the track a few times.

And right now I am having problems with my DSL constantly disconnecting  so I will try to upload some pictures later.

Hell yeah I love the cheap low budget builds. They are usually the most fun and when they break you dont have to shell out a bunch of cash to get them back up and running. Ill be waiting on more pics!

Thanks, I am still working on getting more pictures, my old computer was kaput so and of course most of the pictures are on that drive, so I will have to recover them when I have time. But I did find a few, one is showing the original color and how dirty the car was. The other is over the rockers on the head, they looked fairly new.

My cousin got some video of the crack fox at edgewater Friday night. I just need some drag radials now so I can get some traction and launch off the line:). Best run was 14.0 at 103.2 mph.
