at what point on a 2.3 turbo does the overboost buzzer go off and is it still safe to push it further?

I was on 471 and pulled up to porsche 944 and decided to down shift to 3rd at 60. it pulled hard and then the next thing i know the factory boost gauge is buried the buzzer is going off like crazy and this thing is still pulling like a freight train. i still got waxed but it was a porsche. i will try against anything once.

I ran my 85 SVO at 18-20psi. I can't remember if the buzzer was hooked up though. It did fine at those levels.

Thunderbird TC's the buzzer goes off at 17 lbs. If you have a t3/t4 type turbo you can push them to 20 psi with high octane gas. maybe a little more with inner cooler.
