Doesn't change anything for me, I still wouldn't let them build an engine for my lawnmower.

Kelly MMR has a BAD reputation with modular owners. I would look elsewhere. I have 2 buddies that have gotten screwed by them.

Really I was looking at their 900series stroker kit this winter, planning on building it myself. From what I was seeing on corral.net they are one of the prefered modular kits. Any recommendations on others to go with then?

i hear bad things about them, but i would rather hear it from the owners mouth.. turbo forums swings off there nuts for some reason...but that isnt saying much

The fact that they feel the need to offer such a warranty when no one else does should tell you enough. I just got back from the NMRA race in Joliet and you know how many cars I saw sporting their engines? Zero. Now granted I wasn't looking for them but I didn't notice a single heads up car or modular muscle car advertising that they were running anything from MMR.

Besides if you have a problem and have to send it back to California you are going to shell out big money on truck freight shipping. I bought a cobra short block from a guy on the west coast and since he couldn't use his company's commercial account it cost him a little more than $350 to ship it.

Thats what worries me, what is the reason for offering that kind of warranty. Been looking at other rotating assemblies from Livernois and Modular performance. May go with one of those.

I have their rods and bought manley pistons from them. So far so good.

A friend of mine was running there motor and made about 600 crank and he never had any problems...

What would you advise against them for my buddy when he is getting back from Afghanistan is looking at buying one and i just want to be able to tell him pros and cons...

I have read several posts where guys have burned holes in pistons due to the pistons being machined thin, ring clearances being off, and a few other occurances. None of them personal to me, but makes me weary of going with them. Their warranty does sound great though and when I contacted via email about information they responded very quickly. I plan on shopping around quite a bit more before settling on someone.

I have also seen a lot of posts about problems with their oil pumps as well. Thier prices aren't any better than any other mail order companies so why chance it.

I dont know, dont want to flame any company I have never had any personal experience with, but some of the stories I have heard do really concern me, especially when paying out at least $3000 for everything. But they have been quick to respond to any questions I have asked and seem more than willing to be helpful, especially when I contacted them on corral.net.

We have Steve Barker local to us, I don't know why anyone around these parts would bother with any mail order engine. There are a handful of guys (myself included) qualified to put them together and Steve Barker works his magic on the parts.

There oil pump was the death of my first motor at 403 miles.

It's not that Im looking for a builder, going to do that myself. Part of the fun of modding/building a car. Im just trying to find myself a good rotating assembly.

Myself, I plan to get a new OEM Ford pump.

I like the melling pump with billet gears. I've never heard anything bad about them.

After the MMR pump shattered I went through the motor again and put a Melling in it.Also with the new motor that I just put in it also has a brand new Melling pump.

I'll let you all know if I have any issues with mine. I'm not running their oil pump though.
