x2 why put all this money and work into it to get the same numbers as a stock car with a warranty, at some point its just not worth it..

D&D is where i sent my block to have it bored its right down the street from cincy speed off the padock exit on 75. They do good work for a resonable price and for what its worth you will appreciate the car you built.

yeah but if your car is paid off, why get a loan for the power. Plus paying the money for a shorblock the way you want it is alot cheaper than paying 40k for a car that has the motor you want. And as far as warranty....well, I don't know if you put any aftermarket parts on your car that your warranties will cover. They have all kinds of stipulations on that crap. As an example: Father-in-law put long tube headers on his 03 Cobra and the dealership voided his engine warranty.

It depends on what type of sleeves you wanted to use to achieve the 3.700" bore. I talked to John Tymensky at Modular Performance about sleeving a Teksid block with Darton MID sleeves he really didn't want any part of it. His opinion was the only people he would trust to install them is Darton themselves. I contacted Darton about it and it was going to be about $2200 for the sleeves and machine work. You could do pressed in (dry sleeves) which should run less but I sure wouldn't trust that to just anyone. I don't know of anyone do that with a stock cast iron block though. Everyone I have seen has been with an aluminum block. Probably the best and most economical way to do it would be to buy a FRPP Boss 5.0 mod motor block. For roughly $1000 they are pretty hard to beat.

have you checked the prices of dss lately? for shipping and all they told me they could have a 5.3l for $4250.00. Just thought i would throw that out there. I myself went with the 4.6 stroked to a 5.0. shipped for $3600.00 and gaurentees that it will hold 800 rwhp w/out problems, and sence I am really only going to be making around the 600 rw rang it should last a long time. Hope this helps.

Imo you will never get enough power from the 2v

What is enough power? Is the power to go high 8's or low 9's not enough? I even saw mention that one big name engine builder has put togeth a 700HP NA 2V based on a 5.4

Andrew Barrale went 8.93 @ 152 with a turbo 2V. Ronnie Diaz who runs NMRA modular muscle went 9.37 @ 149 with a YSI blown 2V.

with the right setup you can run what ever you want. It just takes a little money to make it happen.
