The part to fix was on Back order with no known date of release how would you feel and what would you expect? I am in this situation right now. Car needs a Throttlebody and the transmission needs to come out for a rebuild....the throttlebody is the part that is not available but I can see once the trans gets opened up itll be some more BS.
other than that the gas gauage does not always read corrctly and the whole heater/ac system shorts in and out rarely as well.....
I fell like I got a lemon.
I am an ASE master Tech and not stupidwhen it comes to the business....
Just would like your guys thoughts that way I handle it accordingly.....
Thanks
Is this a new car? If it is a new car I guess I would shop around somewhere else for my warranty work. Then start moving up the food chain till I get the service that came with the warranty.

I tried and no other dealer wants to touch it since they did not sell the car....trust me when I say I will never buy another new car of this brand. I am not gonna throw anybody or company under the bus until it is all over but my mind is made up otherwise since I know I have not been treated the way I would treat a customer if they came to my shop......
and yes the car is one years old w 22k I know high ,miles but the wife and I were down to 1 car now we have none ....lol....(sarcastic laugh) until I get done fighting in court over an engine warranty on my 97'Jeep Grand Cherokee.....
SO far I have 400 on rentals w no end in site.....I may have to buy another car but I feel I should not have to.....I start college in the fall....and my shop will go part time at that point.......

The question in my mind with regard to TB - To what extent are they going to find one, or get one produced? What other aqvenues are open to them IE aftermarket, rebuilt, rebuild the current, etc., that would comply with current warranty.
Assuming this is FACTORY warranty and not a used car warranty - I would be in touch with the area service representative and begin building a case with the MFGR service hotline. I have done this in two cases in the past. One maker is no longer in business now thanks to our new government car company. They were great to deal with.
The other was with my current Mustang that I bought used. Worked with the dealer service department after researching the problem isloated and resolved by another dealer in Illinois that a guy on antoher website was kind enough to post up about and posted a copy of his service report (cinf. data edited) which I used for reference. The dealership and Ford covered 80% though the car was over the three year lark but under 20,000 miles. Turned out my research was right on and they recsolved the annoying rattle.
A good service department will go to bat for you if you work with one that is reputable. I am not an auto tech, but I am a field service tech and many times I will cover issues I find left by others years after the fact that should have been caught under warranty or even at installation. I cover them under good will time or approved warranty through mny service manager who is fair about these things.
The last thing I would do a tthis point is pull the old "I'll see you in court", or "Get you lawyer ready" and P.O. the deal;ership and MFGR from the start. Good luck.

If this was a new car with a factory warranty I would think they would be footing the bill for a rental/loaner car. We has this sort of issue come up with our 2003 Explorer. The dealer provided a loaner for a while. I think about 3 weeks in total.

I actually have a new part on Back Order, that was ordered today for a customer with NO ETA date as of 2:30 today.
I know that when one of our parts go on backorder, there really isnt much to do.My area distribution center is on Back order status untill part arrives from across the pond.Nothing but a waiting game.
Is it possible to remove another TB from another vehicle?
TB may be Drive By Wire, which in turn its possible the TB is "married" to the car and cannot be "reloaded" (software) into another vehicle.
If this is not the case with this particular TB,see if that is an avenue they can take to make you a happy customer.
Also see if they can contact other dealers around the nation and check, maybe one has a leftover in stock that hasnt been used yet.
Open the trans up? They are not going to use a black box unit?

Its under a year old and is still under warranty.....
Wating game or not...IMHO.....I bought this car to not have it sitting broke down or having to repait it myself(which I am capable of doing) which I mentioned and got the old we could void your warranty BS...I mentioned a used one as well as a temp fix(got the void warranty BS as well) they basically toldme if I take carthey may void warranty) you and I know they likely can not do......
I have every intention of being taken care of.....I am not backing down and will get my due as I take every step needed along the way......I got some high up friends in this corporation that I said they could most likley resolve it if the dealer or customer service decides to not step up.....
I just wish they would do right by me.......I should ot have to pay for a car I can not drive and pay for rentals.....
If it was out of warranty I could care less.....I would handle myself.....

So if its under warranty why are you shelling out the money for a rental? I'd at least lean on the dealer to provide one. The manufacturer should pick up the tab.

You do have every right to move gthe car to another dealership. There is NOTHING they can do with regard to voiding warranty for that. You may haveto pay the tow bill, but that would be the extent of it. I moved a car from one dealership to another due to poor service years ago in SanDiego. My insurance actually paid the two bill after explaining the problem. Sounds like you are dealing wiht a rip off dealreship to begin with. Almost sounds like a R_c_rt autogroup story (near Columbus).

Doing that....issue is the dealer says it's not their problem. :flipoff:
Also according to the dealer the manufacture no longer covers warranties for parts on back order......my realcomplaint in all of this is they have no release date for said part.....they said it could be months......

FWIW, I had an inline fuse on the wiring harness blow a few years back on my '04. It was covered by warranty, but it took a few days to track down the issue, and another week to ship the part from Japan.
It was only with the help of a friend who had spare car that I made it to work and back. (Got to drive a '87 MR2 for two weeks... fun little car.)
I guess that is one of the things we don't think about when we buy cars from overseas... Availability of parts. When I broke a suspension bolt on my '87 Prelude, I had to get a replacement from a warehouse in Connecticut, took almost a week, and we KNEW the part was there.

Well after some talks to Fords Customer service they are picking up the tab on the rental car. We are still negotiating the 500 or so I have in rentals fees already incurred.
The Dealer in Question was Beechmont Ford. The staff was helpful as they could be and that is all I could ask of them.
I hope they get the transmission out and fixed and the new throttlebody however many days/mths it will be soon......I suspect since ford motor company is footing the bill for the rental that it will happoen faster otherwise....and I bet that part I was told could be months before they will get one will be there soon.....:bigthumb
Strange how when it cost a customer out of pocket it is no big deal but as soon as it cost the business in this case Ford Motor things get taken care of ...........faster
again the employees at Beechmont Ford were nice and helpful. Having been taken care of my faith in Ford Motor Company is restored and now I can tell my wife to shut the hell up about buying a Hyundai.;)
