So, I had to get a money order for the helmet I have coming COD.

Walk in, tell em what I need, and ask how much. $5. Heavy charge I think, but whatever.

She asks for my account #. I said I don't have one, I have cash. She said we can't do it without an account.

I explained again, cash!!!! Not a check. Wouldn't do it.

Must be nice to be able to afford to turn away business!

That's pretty much a joke. I second the notion of going to the post office. It should be less than $5 too.

I am with PNC now unwillingly since they bought out my bank that bought out my bank that bought out my bank, that bought out my savings and loan. I am going with a small local bank when I come back in the winter.

I like local banks and I like credit unions even more. I've never had a bank send me a check because they made too much money the previos year but my credit union has.

So if you had an account with mean's they have your business they would charge you $5 to do that. What happened to doing things for your customers?! Offering them benefits?! Just a general thing I've noticed lately.

The only people that make the big banks look honest. :cool1:

Unfortunately a neccesary evil for buying stuff online.

I had been with National City since I was 18 years old....they always had the rule if you did not have an account there were certain things they would NOT do for you. HOWEVER, they just got bought out by one of the biggest freakin' banks in the world...with stimulus $....so I am with Wright Patt NOW love the credit union!

Been with PNC for 5 years. Zero errors on monthly balance sheet. Huntington, - 3 errors worth 276.00 in 5 months caused by double transactions on Huntington's part. Each took 30 days to resolve AFTER they found that the error was made on their end EACH time.

PNC just approved my home equity loan. Closing costs 112.00 total for the whole deal.

THey should take cash, but oddly enough many banks these days are turning away business from those who do not have accounts.

UDF - they do money orders for cash.

I only use the post office for money orders.

I'm with you Mike. I'm not too thrilled with PNC so far. I have most of my accounts with Wright Patt credit union. I am very happy with them!

Oh yeah we had an employee checking account through National City never had a problem then PNC took over supposed to be no fees for anything and one day they charged a fee no one in Cleveland could explain and made us have an overdraft because we were in the process of switching banks and my wife's check was being deposited in our new bank and this is when it happened. Boom over draft fee of 34 bucks then 8 more after that so when my wife called to ask why so many and that she had no problem paying the first one and then shutting the account down the 3rd person which was a manager told her " your on the mortgage side you wouldn't understand"

Credit Unions are awesome and the way to go, especially small ones. I have been with WT credit union in Withamsville for over 10 years and the personalized service is awesome. I could call them and tell them to give my money to a friend coming in at my request. Would a larger Bank do this, NO. I have been stuck in traffic near closing time and have called them and they have waited on me for about 20 minutes past closing so I could get some cash. Would a Bank do this, NO.. they would say "who is this?".

I do have my mortgage through USAA which is also awesome (available to military and veterans.. possibly family members I believe). Have a rental property mortgage through Chase but I dont do anything else with them other than that rental account.

As others have stated, Credit Unions are the way to go.. quick loan processes also!

PNC is a piece of shit company. i went there to today. meet up with a guy to trade for super duty for his A4 and they told us we can not notarize anything for non PNC members. its a major liability to us. makes no damn sense to me.
