Hi
Last week my top wouldn't go down and I could smell hydrolic fluid/brake fluid. The cylinder on the drivers side blew!! Thought this might help someone when they have this problem....

Ordered another and my son replaced it tonight, Ordered on E-bay, Hydro-E-Electric. They have a bunch of vert stuff for older cars Tops. pumps window weather stripping etc.

my 87 did a similar thing, had to replace the driver side slave cylinder. The plastic mount on the side of the that holds the metal brace cracked, broke, the cylinder was loose for a while and then finally damaged the cylinder enough that the plastic threads warped and it ruptured and would not hold pressure any more.

I got a used one here and replaced it, problem solved. But clean up was a pain.

I put rags in there to soak it up and absorb it. For me the problem was some of that black sound insulation soaked some of it up. May want to go with some of that absorb powder they use for oil/fuel spills..
