I need a 302-351w timing cover that is for a reverse rotation set up and has the boss for a mechanical pump. This should be any mustang from 79 to 86 that was carb'd.

Thanks

I have one that has the fuel pump boss and a hole for the dipstick. The seal goes in, from the motor side. I don't know about the water flow direction.

That would be a standard rotation...thanks but won't work

Put the pulley on backwards and quit being so damn picky:)

I'm pretty sure 302/351's didnt have reverse rotation pumps during the time mechanical fuel pumps were mounted to the side of the timing cover... All the timing covers I've seen either were standard rotation with fuel pump boss, or reverse rotation with the boss, but the hole was casted over. Then I've seen timing covers with no boss whatsoever...

fairly certain even if the older foxes were carburated.. they had an electric fuel pump... Although I could be wrong... my buddy had an '85 that was carb'd with an electric pump, my coupe was carb'd with an electric pump... and I think pre-85 was standard rotation running a v-belt... right?

I suppose you could always just take one with the boss casted out, mill the hole out, tap the threads and there ya go? idk never done it...

My 85 was carb'd with mechanical pump.

All mustangs from 79 to 85, with manual transmissions, ran mechanical fuel pumps with the serpentine belt set up.

As far as I know, any serpentine set up is reverse rotation.

Rich is correct, 79-85 5L were all mechanical pumps when carbed and reverse w/ serp setup.

Rich, will check my cores and see, might be able to help you out.

Yeah my buddy had an '85 5L/auto but it was CFI so that would explain a whole heck of a lot..

Yeah, thats right. Any engine called 5.0, was serpentine belt and 50 0z balance.
