My daughter will be heading off to college this fall and I am looking for suggestions as to the type notebook computer that would best suit her needs. Main thing I am struggling with is the size, do you really lug them from class to class or will it mostly sit on the desk? Like the new icore processors but there pretty pricey. Please no MAC or PC responses, she needs a PC for her classes.

when i was in college mine was a bigger one with like a 17" screen or so.

i wish i would of got a smaller one. it took up to much room on the desk and was a pain trying to fit it in my bag wit all my books.

thats just my opinion tho

Do students actually take their notebooks to classes? If so I would htink somehting under 15" screen size would be best.

i went for CAD (computer aid drafting) and i use a computer everyday at work but in school i never used mine much prolly because most my classes had computers in them.

my girlfriend on the other hand is going for nursing and uses hers like every day.
her sister has one of those mini one like 7" (fits in her purse) that she sure to take notes or just put reminders in for like homework and wat ever else

Rick, give the college that they will be attending and check with their IT folks. They will have recommendations plus many schools get discounts or know of discounts that local area stores give to students.

Maybe consider a Dell Studio 15 with an i5 processor. I just ordered one for a friend and I really like it.
