2010 Mustang GT cars

Okay, I'm going to toss this out because any Mustang guy (person) that talk to asks the same thing; why would anyone buy one now with the '11 models showing up? I mean, who wouldn't want the increase in horse power that the 5.0 cars come with? I saw where Beefcake had the big sale last month with the price reduction on the '10s and certainly that is a big incentive, but unless those sales continue there maybe a lot of 2010 GT cars sitting on lots. Even the '11 six bangers have over 300 HP and can get 31 mpg! On a YouTube video that I saw a comparison between a '10 GT and an '11 six cylinder the GT won by a car length consistently. But again we are still paying a GT price for the '10 instead of the lower price for a 6 cyl. that is almost as quick.
What do you all think?

They need to drop the price of the 10's quite a bit or their will be lots left over I think. I feel the difference in the 10 to the 11 model are night and day. I'd take an 11' V-6 over a 10' V-8 any day.

I will tell you who would still by a 2010 GT.... My 50 year old aunt. I was so excited three weeks ago when she said she was going to buy a "brand new" mustang. She had the first 05 I had ever seen back when they came out and I thought for sure she was talking about getting a 2011.. Nope she got the 10 because "there were no incentives on the 2011" I told her because the are so badass! She has no idea about the difference in power or what the hell a 5.0 or 4.6 is. She was still happy with her new car and I tried not to rain on her parade even though I was disapointed she got the 2010.

I wouldn't touch any of the 2011's though I also wouldn't purchase a 2010 without heavy incentives.

I'm not saying I don't have faith in Ford's product but those are both new engines in freshend platforms. Id let the new model gremlins settle out for a while and resist the Job1 production launch. I've been on the wrenching side of new model product gremlins (thank you 6.0 psd), I surely don't want to be on the ownership side.

Wasn't Terry advertising these 2010 GT's at about $24-$25k with incentives just a month ago or so?? Is that not enough incentive for you to take money saved on the purchase and throw a blower on it? The 2011 is a cool car for sure, but I am never gonna be the fool to pay full price for a new car because it's "king of the street" that year. Absolutely awesome looking and performing cars but new cars in a new platform/engine combo is a no go for me. I chose to get the Cobra....3.4 Whipple and fuel/exhaust upgrades and for less than $30k you have a newer ride running easy low 11's and its a limited production car. But just my opinion

According to one of the car mags (dad is borrowing it now). The new 2011 V6 is .1 seconds slower than the 2010 V8 in the 1/4 mile.

I think 2012, I might have to talk the wife into letting me get a new car. :D

That's the direction id take. Let em depreciate a little and get soft then pick one up and have a robust proven car, with a smaller payment and cheaper insurance.

I know a girl who is actually waiting for the 10s to drop in price so she can buy one. A lot of people want the car for its looks and aren't concerned with the new engine or maybe don't even know it's here. Plus c'mon the 3V is no slouch of an engine even if it is 100hp behind.

really the main difference in the cars is the powertrain. The body and interior were just refreshed for 2010.

And, with the 1800 markup, plus no rebate. for a lot of people you are talking about a 3800-4800 difference.

That will help those with neg equity, it will also help those with a payment objective, your talking 70-100 less per month.

It will also help used.

I took in a 2010 Grabber blue auto with back up camera yesterday.

MSRP of $35,815.

We'll put it out here for $26,995, a banger could buy it for somewhere in the 25's. thats 10k off, $500 payment vs a similarly equipped new one that would be about $750 per month!!

I can't imagine spending that kind of cash in a monthly car payment. That's just insane to me. I pay that in rent.
