I know there are a few people who have or have had an xr4ti. My question is are there any good performance sites on these cars. I got a steal on an 88 tonight with only 52,000 miles. Any help would be appreciated.

This is Chris Grayson's site, he lives in West Chester and him and another guy run a mail order company selling everything you will ever need for suspension, as well as a bunch of other sweet parts.

Go here and join up and introduce yourself...they're a great bunch of knowledgeable guys and Chris is "Grayson" on the forum. Get in contact with him and tell him "EVIL_XR4 David" sent you lol.

The Merkur Encyclopedia site is fantastic...lots of awesome info. Also do a web search for anything "Phil Marshal" has ever done...this guy is like the God of Merkur modifications and has a nasty 500+rwhp XR.
I would HIGHLY recommend the first "mod" you do is a manual boost controller (unless you want an expensive electric style one). The hands down best you can buy is a Gillis Boostvalve. A lot of people will tell you to make one yourself...you can do that, but know first that guys have ran the Gillis in everything from real deal WRC rally cars to 200k+ street cars without them ever failing or needing any kind of maintenance. That to me was worth the $55 to buy one. http://www.boostvalve.com/
I would also recommend doing a search either on that forum or on Ebay for a shop manual CD. You can buy the actual manual but there are .pdf copies you can buy on DVD for $10.
Above all else....read read read and ask lots of questions. They're finicky cars to say the least but very cool if you take ownership seriously. I traded mine for a paint job for my Mustang or else i'd have never got rid of mine.

I couldnt pass this deal up, its been sitting in a garage for the last 6 years and is low mileage . It needs a windshield because some punk decided to throw a brick through it. I know it will need thoroughly gone over but i have wanted one for a long time and finely picked this one up for $950. It should be fun.

Had a chance to get one for $700 once... running and driving, no issues... I was a day late on calling the folks... someone came and put a down payment on it and took it the day I called. I wanted one too... but then I got a Lincoln, lol
