In two years of ownership this 325i has cost me at least $3000 in repairs to keep it running! The last time it was in the shop it cost me $800 due to a bad oil separator valve..... a $100 part that damn near caused internal damage to the engine. Since then the idle sits right around 600rpm's (lower than normal) and the blower runs by itself, even when the car is off! I have owned everything from mazdas, hondas, and several mustangs. I beat the shit out of all of them and never had a problem. This the first car I have ever pampered and it breaks down all the time! Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?

I know a fellow board member had his 3 series bought back from the dealer because of constant repairs.

Well, I just got word from the shop! Bad intake boot, slight oil leak, rear differential leak, power steering leak, worn out suspension parts, and a final stage fan resistor. I'm really pissed off. Now I have to sell my 67 stang so I can get a new car! F*** BMW! Never buy one!! Pieces of shit!!!!

All the technology they cram in to them I really would have a hard time owning one past the bumper to bumper warranty. Not to mention the fact that they nickel and dime you death when you buy a new one.

They say BMW stands for Break My Wallet! Sorry to hear your bad luck and especially sorry that you have to sell your 67 Mustang! Hope things get better for ya!

With a BMW you HAVE to stay on top of the maintenance, if buying used having ALL the service records is a big help.

But when I found out a set of plugs and wires was $600....I knew I'd never even try to own one.

E30 M3 is simply awesome.

600 dollar plugs and wires? Come on bone, I know you're not that gullible, you can stick plugs in those just like you can in any other cars. I've owned 1 bmw, a 525 5 speed I traded for a supra at 246,000 miles and had no problems but fuel pump and front end parts. My dad has owned 4 now, e30 325, two e36's, and now a m3 and we love them. Every car has lemons, sounds like you have one. Sorry to hear about your luck man.

E30 M3 plug wires were a DEALER only item at the time.

for example.........

$432 is the discounted price, +30% (normal parts warehouse discount) and you are at $561, add in 4 plugs, $600. Only the E30 M3 though.

Well if you're dumb enough to take a 30 year old car to a dealer to change the plugs you deserve to pay that price.

I think he was saying it was a Dealer only part for availability, not that he was going to have it repaired there.

A friend of mine has a 09' 5 series he purchased new and of the 9 months he's been making payments he's been driving the car for less than 6. It has left him stranded repeatedly. He's just waiting for the lemon law to take over at this point.

Id rather rock a rust bucket truck and get from Point A-B then to be seen stylin and profilin..... On the side of 275.

Correct, wires and plugs were installed at Mid Ohio. The car developed a slight miss on the trip through the hills of PA, but fine on the flat lands. BMW store was only dealer in Ohio that had the wires in stock.

Not a good idea to run anything but Volvo plugs in a newer Volvo.Probly anything 98 or newer. You might get away with aftermarket in the older 850's,but its not recommended.Probly the same situation for BMW.
My buddy has owned a couple of BMW's over the years.Want me to ask him if he wants some side work?

Thanks guys for listening. I'm still pissed but a lot more calm now. I got the 67 up for sale now, so I will be looking for a brand new car. Possibly a 2010 mustang gt if I can get it for the right price.......we will see!
