do you have a nice cam? What are your ultimate goals? A set of nicely ported stockers can get you pretty far.

If it's just the timing cover then put on a new chain. If it's the timing gasket you speak of and it let go again, what's going on?

its got H/C/I its the timing cover gasket its pissing antifreeze out the bottome. im thinking maybe slapping a little more RTV on the outside see if it helps a little.

I think I would take it to someone who know what they are doing and let them do it. It may cost you a few bucks but the peace of mind knowing it was done right is worth it.

x3. Slapping some RTV on the outside of it would not be the right way to go about fixing a big leak....

I hope you're not dry fitting it when you put it together.
If not, What type of gasket sealer did you use?

He said above that he thought me might not have put enough RTV on it, so it does sound like he's using some RTV.
I'd check the flatness of the timing cover, as these are aluminum. Especially if someone tried removing the old gasket with a screwdriver or something. I'd also check around the block where it meets up.

Where is this thing leaking at.The timing cover holds the waterpump to it.There is a small weep hole at the bottom of the timing cover. Is the water pump leaking at the bottom area where it bolts to the timing cover?
Let me know in this pic where its leaking from.

If you are using a die grinder with a scotch brite cookie be careful because you will actually cut into the surface material of the timing cover where the gasket goes... I'd use a flat-file to check it before you put it back together.

Do you still have the dowel pins in the block to align the timing cover?

I always just use the balancer to center the timing cover over the crank and thread a few long bolts in to draw it into the block.

Ive done mine the same way but I have seen some other people try it and they leak everywhere.

Never had good luck with that.I actually went to the junk yard and pulled some off of a lincoln.

Antifreeze out of the bottom of the timing cover ?? You mean where it meets with the oil pan or where the water pump is attached to the timing cover ?? Or do you mean the water pump itself ??
If it's near the bottom by the oil pan, I would stop driving it immediately, don't want to get coolant mixed in w/oil.
I agree with what Kenny says.

its at the bottom. of the timing cover. like right about where it meets the oil pan its parked untill i figure out what im going to do with it.
i used a razor blade to clean the oldgasket off. there wasnt so much on the block the cover had the majority of the left over gasket from last time.
im about to just pull the fucking motor out of the damn thing its still going through oil almost 3 quarts in about 300 miles... fucking pisses me off.
the gasket failing is probably some simple like i didnt clean the surface enough of something but the oil situation is fucking ridiculous.
anyone wanna buy a coupe:lol:
