I have a 95 mustang gt. Just recently i have had a problem maintaing oil preasure when the motor has heated up, the oil preasure drops to 0psi at idle until i hit the throttle and then it bumps to about 10-15psi i have installed aftermarket oil preasure and temp. gauges just to make sure it wasnt faulty gauges. I need advice on what could be wrong? Oil pump, bearings, lifter, etc.?

Bearings worn out, possibly the cam bearings are wiped too.

Lets not tell this guy to start shot gunning parts at his car.He started at the right place,now he needs to check further into it.

Bearings, only real reason to lose pressure, I have yet to see one be the pump, they usually just sieze and break, bearing clearance is what keeps pressure up..

Been around a long time....after seeing everyone change everything it is almost always bearings in the end....cut oil filter open and see whats up... 9/10 times it's bearings....

well ive been around 57 yrs.ive seen sending units bad causing o/p drop,ive also seen pumps get weak and cause bearings go bad. bearings is bad when it is knocking,he never said it was knocking.

Ok....he said he put a gauge on to rule that out....I said it is almost never a pump....it could be but I doubt it...and you can have worn bearings with no noise....been building engines for 15 yrs....I am not a newbie at this...if it were me the first thing I would do after a mech. Gauge is cut oil filter open....

this is exactly why i fuck'n dont waste my time trying to help people on this site.last time for me.but at least replace sender $8-$12 might save thousads

Calm down....he said he put different gauges in.....in his first post...but you know it all because you are 57 that has nothing to do with anything.....this is also he same reason I keep away from tech...I put in my 02 so he can dp whatever he wants....and even if it ends up being pump he would want to replace bearings anyway...those kinds of pressures will allow crank to touch the bearings...if you know engines you would know the tank rides on an oil film....never actually touches bearings...or should not anyway....

And might save thousands on a rebuild for a 302? Yea if your building a stroker maybe.
Dont get all upset because some one has a different opinion than you.The OP all ready stated he put other gauges on it.Other gauges either come with there own sender or its a mechanical gauge.

If you do verify low oil pressure with a good guage. Change your oil and run some 15-40 rotella oil your oil pressure should come up some and you might buy some time before a rebuild.

May work but when it locks up it will suck to be stuck on the road with a seized engine....

I would just fix it right and have a reliable car, no real temp fix for oiling issues.....

depends on your financial situation at the time. If you have the cash to freshen the motor go for it. I have done temp fixs to cars before. I would try to find a decent explorer yunk jard motor with p heads and intake after I changed the oil and it locked up 2 years from now.
