Parking brake seems to be completely stretched, it won't hold the car at all. Haynes manual is being of no assistance, simply says, "parking brake system is self-adjusting. A spring loaded ratcheting mechanism on the parking brake lever automatically takes up slack, so the cable never has to be adjusted"... I looked just about everywhere and could not find a nut to tighten the cable. Can the cable be manually adjusted, am I just overlooking something, or do I just need new cables?

Did you make sure the cable is working.. would take 2 ppl. my daughters car the cable was froze up,there are 2 cables, one to each caliper in the back. joins at a T so to speak. .. There is an adjustment under the car if i remember right, below the shifter, above the drive shaft. at least on her automatic it was like that.. i will have to look, i found info somewhere online when we replaced her complete system.

Yeah there is a little adjustment on that T above the transmission.
Another thing could be how worn are the rear brakes?

Rear brakes are in good shape, I guess I just overlooked the adjustment. I will look again tomorrow. Thanks guys.
