I was rummaging thru my Mother-in-law's garage and found almost a case of old Valvoline oil in those big round cans that you had to puncture with one of those banana spout things. Are they worth anything as a collectable? They are still full.

I think they are there are tons of collectors who'd want them even if they were empty. I'd ebay them I'd try to keep the case together but if you don't get much I'd put them out individually

I concur. The market for old oil cans is pretty huge. Can you post some pictures of them? Any idea when they're from?

Not the ones I've run into ... They want the full cans !!!
I bought a 69 Mercury Monterey 3 years ago from the original owner, And I took it to the Carlisle swap to sell ... In the trunk was an entire case "Unopened" of Valvoline in the trunk ... I eneded up selling the car for $4,800 and the case of oil for $250 !!! LOL
I'd bet you can get $25+ per can to the right collector !!!
Post some pics of them !!!

Id do a lot of research before selling, havent you seen the History channel show American Pickers? They buy and sell stuff like old cans for A LOT more than you would think.

I will get pictures. I have some valvoline that are full, and some quaker state that are empty. I also found a 2 gallon steel can that was "MINAMAX Motor Oil" Said it was SAE 20 on it. It is pretty rusty, but you can still read most of it.

That is why I started rooting thru that place. My wife's grandfather died a few years ago and had a ton of stuff stashed. I have the owners manual from every car he ever owed from a Model A all the way to a 1990 S-15.

I have a few spouts and cans myself. I'd keep them if I were you, you'll never find them this cheap again.

I remember as a kid helping my dad change oil, I ran the metal tongue of the spout through the outside of the can and it spilled everywhere! He started to go off, but reeled himself in (one of the few times!) and helped me clean it up.
