Bah, I ran around with an open y-pipe all last summer...it's all gravy! lol (cept the neighbors will hate you for it). I'll tell ya what, heads are the biggest thing I ever did on my foxbody. I went from losing by 1 car length to a 98 cobra to stacking 5 car lengths on the same cobra (from a roll) with just a head swap, no tuning even at that point. I'd get a H/C/I top end package and call it a day...but that's just me!

Anyone else have any ideas?

Get you a set of 3.73's or 4.10's to start with. Then change the car over to mass air so you can begin the other engine mods. Pulleys, CAI, and other small things along the way as your budget will allow. Then get the HCI combo after you have all the supporting pieces needed.

You can pretty much do all the little stuff with speed density...just can't mess with the h/c/i and have it run well. I ran my 88 with the stock SD computer into the high 11's on a 150 shot.

First thing I would do is swap it over to Mass air.Forget about rednecking the exhaust and taking the flows off, wouldnt be worth anything. After the mass air then you start looking at H-C-I,gears,trans,clutch.

With it being an 86 if it still has the same motor that came with it. He can't cam it much.. They were flattop pistons without valve reliefs so I would look into that before you buy anything.

Well I bought a 308 last night for it for $150 just needs reringed. I am going to swap it to mass air as soon as I figure out how. I got a x303 cam with the shortblock and working on buying a set of edelbrock performer alum heads that he has too. What all is involved in swapping to mass air from sd?

Is the car CLEAN ??? I mean you say it's all stock, But is it a cream puff kind of stock ???
The reason I ask is, If it is a Clean true 86 gt and is stock ... Why would you want to mod it ??? It will be worth so much more stock, Then another "Hot Rodded Mustang" ???

I'm not trying to be a Dick, I have nothing against Hot Rods look at my build thread ... I just personally couldn't see doing it to a clean stock 4eye GT ... At least I have the excuse that mine was a V6 !!! LOL

Now post up some pics !!!

it needs some work> not a creampuff by all means....but it is a start though...i will get some pics as soon as i get it home...Its just a 86gt in blk primer with 10 hole wheels on it...need to do some body work and pull a couple dents but the car runs awsome....

Try and see if someone will trade you out of the x cam.... find a e cam much better for what you are doing...

Well I got the x cam with the 308 shortblock.I also picked up the edelbrock alum heads. Motor is going to machine shop to get checked out and redone today. I am going to try and find the stuff to do the mass air swap today. Then hopefully next weekend the motor will be going in.
