Ok, so a new project thread for a new phase of the vert's life. I was just not satisfied with the way the car turned out, it was too much power and just not fun to drive as there was just no where to open it up without it getting just stupid crazy.
I sold the driveline, kmember, fuel system, etc. I picked up a great deal on a fresh 302, with a T5, bell, clutch, etc. It had underdrive pullies, timing chain cover, oil pump, oil pan, etc.
Well it was just a shortblock, so I decided to use the ported E7's that I used to run on my real street coupe. They have larger valves and a huge set of intake and exhaust ports. I decided against running a stock cam, so I went with an old fireball cam I had laying around. Not much lift and not much duration, but it will lope a little and should add a couple hp. I was really torn on what intake to run, I had a few here, but I just didn't feel they were what I wanted. I looked around and found one on sbz, and traded a hood for it I had here at the shop. I got a trick flow street heat intake, and 70mm throttle body with it too. I think the engine is going to run well.
Here are some pics, I had to bling it up a little bit, got another cheap summit chrome oil pan and a set of really nice polished valve covers with a built in oil fill. also used my yella terra shaft mount rockers, and TFS pushrods. The heads have double springs and titanium retainers on them.

So the engine turned out pretty sharp, the a/c and p/s stuff along with the alternator and alt brackets are all polished or chrome, so it's going to look pretty sharp. I wanted the engine compartment to look nice, even tho it was going to have a stock K and a arms back in it. I told Matt to paint it with the black hammered rustoleum, and I think it turned out pretty good.

So, here are some pics with the Kmember in the car, forgot I had the flaming river steering shaft, probably should have sold it off too, but just didn't remember it was on there. I wish the engine compartment would have gotten cleaned up before the new engine went in, but I guess I'll pay to get it detailed. I think it is going to be a fun runner, and I am really excited to see how much power it will put down. I have my thoughts, but I will wait to see what the dyno says first.

Well, I needed to use smaller injectors, so I found a set of 24's and a ProM meter together on corral. I bought those and they are on their way now. should be more than enough fuel. We are using a set of MAC headers I had laying around, and now all I need is fuel lines and a cold air intake. We are putting a stock distributor in it as well.

Here are pics of the engine down in the car. Looks really good. I have to get a cold air kit for it now, something to work with a pro m bullet mass air meter. Also Matt has to run some fuel lines from the stock tank back up to the front. I got a ProChamber for a great deal from Todd, and Matt has to get that up on it now. Going to keep the new exhaust on it, and we took the gauges out of it now too, guess they are sold as well. Sad but at the same time I think I will really enjoy this car a lot more.

Ok, so progress! Got the engine in and the trans in too and all bolted up. The accessories are on it now, look good, just wish the engine compartment would have been cleaned up while the motor was out. But I guess that's what clean up guys are for, it's messy from the paint work that was done on it last spring. I think it is really shaping up, can't wait to hear it run and see the dyno results.

Wow... what a 180 flip... went from a completely wild street car to an enjoyable street car! But atleast you kept it... and that is the best part! Glad you are making it enjoyable again Mike!
And yes... chrome that pulley lol

Yeah, do that. I can't wait to drive over 15 mph! This gets real old, driving a toyota van around, it's a stick, so every once in a while I'll have it full of soldiers and I'll speed shift it from first to second, lol. they get a kick out of it.

It's funny, they just laugh at the crazy contractor dude. I don't tell many about my personal stuff like racing and cars and such. So they just think I'm nuts, and I'm cool with that. lol.

With that nice of an engine bay there's no way i would've thrown those old rusty headers on there. That kills it! You need some ceramic coated ones or something, lol.

I know man, but getting them coated costs more than a damn set of headers does. I saw what mustangboy charges for doing a set, and I just can't justify it. I had these setting on a shelf, they'll clean up when they get run and heated up. I should have just kept my bassani's.
