Im wanting to buy a shortblock. Looking to spend about 1800 bucks. Im wanting to build a 400 + hp 347. Just curious on your guy's opinion on this? Don't be shy! lol http://www.treperformance.com/Block/Ford347.html

I do believe it comes w/ crank and pistons?

I prefer to choose my parts and a good machine shop and have my motor built rather than buy a prebuilt unit. I however do everything I possibly can myself. The rest of the work I send to Steve Barker. If you need someone very talented to build one of these engine for you I would suggest Andy Law. If nothing talk to him before you make any decisions. He will know the answers to all your questions pertaining to anything windsor related.

DSS or CHP.Both very reputible places. And you can call both places and talk to some one on the phone about what type of engine your wanting.

I called both places and quoted all kinds of prices through them.

Your damn right. And it runs good.I was in between jobs, the engine was at my dads,I didnt know if I wanted a turbo or spray then my car broke down and I figured it would be a good time for it to go in.
Even though 5 years later,DSS still had my engine and info in the computer when I had some questions for them.

are you stuck on a 347? I havea 69 c90e 351 that is the strongest 351w factory blocks. stroke it out to a 406. No replacement for displacement.

I have a 347 shortblock from Detroit Competition Engineering. Paul Anthony is the owner, real easy guy to work with, although I think they might be getting alot busier these days. Their website isn't all that great, but they're not computer guys....

I am not a fan of mail order engines....

Balanced??? how??? with whos balancer and flywheel???// to me balanced is using MY flywheel and balancer... all can be different, use a LOCAL machine shop, spend the extra couple bucks and it will save you more later, If you plan on having a 5 speed and more then 400 HP a stock block is a time bomb... some last some crack.....right down the middle...

Choose wisely, engines are not a place to save a buck.
