I'm gonna geuss 7.5, the 8.8 has more of a square cover.

I thought so, but wanted to make sure.
I pulled the numbers off of it

373 75 2L23
I am guessing the 75 in the middle refers to a 7.5 rear end?

Yeah that was originally a 4cyl auto car judging by that tag.

Thanks...I did not want to junk an 8.8 but I have no problem using this to tow my parts car to the junkyard with.

Correct, the 75 denotes a 7.5 rearend. The 373 denotes the gear ratio, which is an open carrier.

If it were to read 3L73, it would have be a 3.73 ratio with a limited slip unit.

I'd also guess it came out of a late '92 or early '93 . . . . 2L23. If I remember correctly, the build date is the following,

2 = 1992
L = December, maybe November, I can't remember if the letter "I" is skipped
23 = 23rd day of the month.
