Hey guys,

So I thought I had a bad sending unit since I would fill her up with gas (1991 GT hatchback) and the needle would go PAST full about 1.5 "notches."

I was fueling up a lot just to make sure I didn't run out without knowing it, anyway, for science, I threw a couple gallons in a gas can and decided to see how far she would go. She made it almost all the way to empty on the gauge before I decided to call it and just fill it up which ended up being about 11 gallons.

Do you guys observe the same thing? Or do I just have a quirky gas gauge?

Thanks,
JR

Yeah, the needle goes past full, but doesn't read right near empty. So fill that thing up at like a 1/8th tank.

My needle will not only go past full, but so high to the point where you cant see it in the cluster. Once you drive it for a little it settles in and reads close to the right amount. The factory water temp will go haywire sometimes bouncing up and down lightning fast, good thing I have an aftermarket one lol.

HAHAHA my gas gauge does that same thing. every now and then i will look down and u cant even see the needle anymore. but it always goes back down after a couple minutes.

Service tech at 32 ford said one hot wire feeds the whole cluster.

I think pretty much every car i've ever driven long enough to fill the tank went over the F line.

hell who has the money to fill up to the f line with gas prices where they are?
