I got a nice set of old Mickey Thompson valve covers off ebay last week, they finally arrived today! These are the only valve covers that I've actually wanted and I got a great deal on this set.. I got them shipped to my door for $45! Anyway I cant wait to get em on, just thought I'd share..

Keep in mind you'll need super thick gaskets or spacers if you wanna run these with roller rockers.

I would love to have a set. They look awesome on my buddy's car. They give off a real old school hotrod look.

I'll give you a tip....if you wanna do them like i did, paint the whole valve cover and let it dry a few days. Then get a palm sander and do the tops of the fins with that instead of doing it with your hand and a piece of paper. That'll flatten down the fins even with each other and it'll all look factory and not like someone went to town with some sandpaper. If you use one of the random type sanders it'll put a really cool swirl machined finish to the big open aluminum area...looks awesome but you can't see the detail in my pic.

I was going to find a bare set and have Kenny powder coat them similar to your pictures.. but I got lucky and found the set I have now. They already have a nice wrinkle black finish on them, and you cant really tell in my pics but the M/T is gold :cool2:

I had a set of those new back in the mid 80s on a mercury comet.

I wonder what these valve covers have been on in their lifetime..

I was talking to my buddy about the exact same thing. He also has an old F4B Edelbrock intake which goes back to the '60s. It's crazy to think of what cars those parts have been on over the years.

I love thinking about that. I wanted some parts with some history and you can't beat that ol' hot rod look they give off.
