I got to see the last test ever of a solid rocket booster for a space shuttle last week while I was Utah. It was spectacular. Just a few specs... 1.1 million pounds of propellant, more than 3 million pounds of thrusts, and more than 15,000,000 horsepower.

one thing I miss about living in FL was driving to see a launch. Especially a night launch.

It's 12 feet in diameter, something like 126 feet long, and the propellant alone weighs 1.1 millions pounds and it only burns for 124 seconds. I think it burns something like 4.5 tons of propellant a second.
