Nope....rather a 455 Buick.....something about TORQUE...like 510 @ 2800 rpms stock.

IIRC a 455 Buick is only 55-60 lbs heavier than a SB Cheby, make gobs more torque, needs less rear gear.....with a TH400 Switch Pitch converter of course.

Today, with a tiny old school KB CK118 cam it'll run low 12's on DR's and still get 20+ mpg with a 4 speed slushbox OD GM tranny in daily driving...on a carb.

Now convert to EFI and get ready for a big surprise!

OH yeah....before Honda......there was Buick, I like sleepers/underdogs.

Yes.....they have came DOWN!!!!!!

SBF parts used to be pricey when SBC was king, but once the "5.0" took off and turned everything around as the "next" SBC...prices for SBF parts dropped.

SBF is now being outshined by GM LSx stuff.....atleast there is still aftermarket support!!!!

LSx stuff is still pricey. It's like 2x to 3x the cost of SBC Gen I or 5.0 stuff because most of it is machined parts and not casted like the old Gen I stuff. But on the flip side the LSx parts are of a better quality.
