Had a friend give me his headlights to see what I could do with them. Wow they were bad. Cell phone pics dont do justice. Lots of hazing and scratches and chalkiness. But, a DA, 4 different grits of sandpaper, a buffer strapped to a cart, and 4 hours later this is what I came out with... :bigthumb

So you CAN polish a turd!
I think Mothers also makes some plastic polish that might take that even further.

After I buffed them, I used a plastic polish, then used Meguirs NXT wax on them

Was that all done by hand?
the 3M kit works great. it uses a drill set up and takes a half hour a side

Thanks guys. Yes most of it was by hand. I used a DA initially with 180 grit to bust down the factory clear coat off of them. Then stepped up to 400, then 600, then 1000, then finally to 2000, then buffed them with my handy dandy harbor freight buffer that I used 2 pair of welding vise grips to clamp to my tool card
Then, like I said, I polished them with a plastic polish, and waxed them. If it wasn't like 12 degrees out, I woulda clearcoated them for the guy, wetsanded, and buffed that too.
