Sounds crazy but I was wondering if anyone on here knows of any really nice parks in the NKY/Cincy area (besides DeVou)? I think Chris and I are going to get married this July instead of in December.....so it's just a few months away. We thought about going to Hawaii or Mexico to get married, but now we are considering a park wedding somewhere in the area... The only way I want to do this is if we can go to a park and have lots of cars there. We haven't thought of all the details yet, but it would be awesome if we could find somewhere where we'd be permitted to park in the grass....or if not, in a lot near a huge grassy area with a pretty setting and ample space.

I dont know of many parks in the area but I know there are a lot in Ohio... we have also tossed around the idea of having it be like an actual car show with as many cars as possible.... free to come, and have food catered in for all. Maybe even have a few trophies made? In the grand scheme of things, this would still be extremely inexpensive compared to the stuff most other girls want... and pretty much this is the only way I will have an actual ceremony here... is if we can find a way for this to work out.

Any suggestions or input about the idea would be appreciated... it is just around the corner so I need to make some phone calls, check the show'n shine calendar to check for conflicts and try to figure some stuff out, to see if it is truly worth pursuing!! THANKS!!

Sharon Woods looking over the lake.

My son is planning this and their will be a Vinny tribute of some sort. I think he is using it as a ploy to get me into a tux.

Plans are Friday midday wedding, then reception at Receptions in Eastgate.

There is a park on 50 outside of Milford...i don't know the name of it but you can reserve this big building for receptions and there's a really nice back lawn for weddings. An old friend of mine got married there and it was really nice.

Also Hamilton County parks will let you rent the golfcourse clubhouses. Im sure they can section off the lot for specific parking needs. Mife wife and I had our reception at the Vineyards golf couse.

The honeymoon in Hawaii, burnouts in the rental in the volcanic crater of Mt. Kilauea FTW.

^^^ lol. That's funny. Ponygrl. That sounds like a cool wedding. My wife would have never been down for something like that. I'm not sure of any parks but if I think of any ill let you know. A cool pic would be you two with a bunch of sweet rides lined up behind you.

When we got married, we just used the covered picnic area of our local subdivision pond. We added white lights the outside of it also. Lots of cool pics by the pond in the background, and all our friends' cars were lined up on the street behind us in several of the pictures. And it was FREE!

Hi
Guess I need to get a life.... Here is another listing of parks.

http://www.cincyparks.com/parks-events/index.shtml

French Park is the one I was thinking of in Amberly. It has an open pavilion at the top of the hill and of course the french house... which is probably expensive. Drake park is nice... went there after my prom in '66 :)

I think you are talking about Pattison Park near Owensville. It's on US 50.

PONYGRL I had a friend get married at Mainstrasse Village's Goebel Park. It was a very nice setting but I'm not sure if it's the space you are seeking.

Pioneer Park on 3L highway has ample room. Don't know if parking in the grass would be allowed. Plenty of green space between the baseball field and the dog park. We could line the parking area with all our nice cars too!

Well..I know it sounds wierd..but Spring Grove Cemetary has many very nice locations for pictures and outdoor weddings. Jenn and I got married in the Chapel at Spring Grove...it's right out front...old 1880's build stone church with stain glass. We have been to 3 other friends weddings there. My sister got married there last summer...had a small reception out under a tent in the rose garden. Place is pretty cheap to rent also for a church..you bring your own minister.

I've gone to a wedding there also. It is beautiful! (and I am not biased just because it's a cemetery! ;))

Thanks for all the suggestions. We will look into all the places mentioned. I have never even been to any of the parks mentioned but heard of most of them...I dont venture out of NKY too much.

Keith, I thought about pioneer park... I mean, its only a few minutes from our house and there'd probably be enough room, but I would like to try to find a lil bit of a nicer setting, not right next to a hwy but ya never know.

Keep the ideas coming :)

Hopefully, where ever we decide, a lot of you can attend :)

We did lots of looking....and asking.... and decided on a park by our house.... BUT, changed our minds again yesterday. We are tentatively having it in West Chester, nowhere near our house, go figure.... at end of this June. Details to follow :D
