I'm gonna stop by morehouse in the morning to get my bolt in relocation brackets welded.

I figured while the car was up i'd have them do the axle tubes. I didn't know if it would heat the rear end up too much to taint the fluid.

I guess it depends on who you talk to and what kind of fluid is in your rear end.

When we blend our oils we generally do not heat over 350f on petroleums.
Now syn are a differnt story. When I welded my tubes I didn't use a jig or drain the fluid,
I just didn't see a need I did check it for oder and discolor.

To do it correctly the rear end needs to be stripped down, heated, jig'd, and then welded...

Thats the correct way to do it. The jig is important to keep everything straight when you weld it. You need to heat it up because you are welding cast iron.

Diff fluid is cheap. Why take the risk?

Not saying I wouldn't do it. But it's not something i'd do at morehouse. could be a week or so til i could get to it.

If you don't strip the rear end and put it in a jig before you weld it you could cause the axle tube to warp from welding it. I would definetly recommend that you take it apart and put it in a jig before welding.
