To be on the list higher than BMW is pretty nice.

Yeah that definitely is. I was pretty surprised to see Toyota and #1, I was thinking Nissan because it seems like those cars run FOREVER! A girl at work has one with 289K on it, thats crazy!

Hell i had an Accord with 315k on it and a cracked head. It drank a qt of oil a week but it drove smooth as hell and ran like a top. Bought it for 500 bucks, sold it a year later for 500 bucks lol.
Kinda odd that Honda slipped from #2. That really shows the public impression of Ford must really be on the rise if they're strong enough to bump Honda down from #2.

That's crazy! I don't think I've ever had a car long enough to get to 315K miles! Every time something that goes wrong like a good amount of repair, Chad wants to just get rid of the car, lol! Annoys me to no end! Like now, he thinks the rack on my Escape is bad so he's had it with that already, lol! And it's only a '01. Men!

I think the Accord was just a throw away car that wouldn't die and probably changed hands over and over and racked up the miles. Cars like that, it's tough to pay to fix them when you only paid $500 for the whole car but if it keeps running i guess the miles rack up.
I think Ford clinching the Motortrend car and truck of the year awards probably has something to do with the consumer reports thing. The better they do, the more people take notice. I think if the Ecoboost engines take off things will really start getting better for Ford. Then you've got the new 5.0 coming...that's only gonna add to the allure.

Yeah I think the 5 liter is going to attract some new fans to the Mustang world. It's a shame I'm so broke, I'd love to have one next year!

That's hilarious. Isn't Mercury supposed to be the higher end version of Ford cars?

I was wondering the same thing. I've never really heard anything bad about Mercury's. I like the Mountaineers...

Ford didn't take any bail out money and it is paying off big time. That kind of anti government mentallity is kind of popular right now.

i do believe ford has ranked ahead of toyota the last 2 or 3 years in initial quality above honda and toyota as well :)

A Perception award? Thats kinda dumb right there. How about repairs per 100 in the first year, second year, third year. Real world stuff to base an award on like long term reliablitity and cost of ownership.

I wish somebody could find me a $500 vehicle that ran like a champ. Since I sold the stang I have been driving Chris' dd since he isn't working so I need to find something soon or else I guess I will have no other choice but to drive my mustang all winter and screw it all up

$500 cars are hard to find. You can get close to that for scrap. Alot of good $1000- $6000 cars were traded in on the Cash for Clunkers.

the cfc program took like 300,000 used cars out of the market, all weren't usable, but a lot were.
you gotta remember, even a car that was worth 3k on trade in, they got 4500 for. so, we take it in for 3000, service, etc.. it's onl the lot for 5500-6k,
gone, tons are gone, and thats just driven used car prices up, especially the under 10k stuff

My "winter beater" (99 S10 Blazer w/4.3) just spun a ****** rod bearing a couple days ago.
Finding a good, low mileage engine is about next to impossible.
