I just got a 2.3l turbo motor and the guy I got it off of wasn't sure what year it was.

I was wondering if there was a way to find out what year it was?

I need to buy a computer for it.
I didnt no if I could get any 2.3l turbo computer or had to get the specific one for what ever year the motor is.

I don't know any thing about these 2.3

Thanks in advance

What kind of turbo and what size is it? Also the exhaust manifold, what is the Ford part number on it?

When it comes to the ECM, you need to get the correct one for the injectors and VAM.

Yup, 87-88 TC engine. Now depending on if the original car was a manual or auto will determine the turbo size.

If the turbo has just oil lines going to it, it is an 87, if it has both water and oil lines going to it, then it is an 88. I am just going by memory when I bought my 88 turbo coupe back in the day. I bought it used, but it was low miles and bought it from a Ford dealer.

http://www.stinger-performance.com/

That site has all the info you will need and more for the Swap. You will use your stock computer it just needs to repinned and you need to get a Vane Air Meter.

You should use the Turbo Coupe(TC) or later SVO, Merker computer. The 87-88 TC engine should have brown top injecters and 2 1/2 inch Vane aie meter. The 87-88 TC puter + a few other turbo puters are able to run the 35# injecters. You will need to repin your stock harness. Like the others said it looks like the engine is 87-88 TC.
