Well got the GT dropped and I am not for sure if I can tell a difference? Now I have not driven it yet so I know there will be some settling of the springs but again I can't really tell a difference...here is a pic

I take that back...I can tell that the 315's in the back are a lot closer to the tell pipes...but that is it..

What springs did you use? Give it a couple of weeks to settle some more as you mentioned . . . .

Man I don't know, i've never seen coil springs "settle". I would cut a coil myself or exchange them for different ones.

Exactly. Ive had at least 7 sets of lowering springs on different cars and none have "settled". What you got when you take it off the jackstands is what you get.

Only way I have seen springs settle is after people heat them up to try to get them lower then they collapse. Springs stay at the height they are when you put it on the tires if not you have bad springs that will cause problems in the future.

Something isnt right there, even Eibach Pro's should be close to 1 1/2 inch drop. That to me doesnt even look more than 3/4 inch.

I had zenns on my car when I bought it. It's pretty damn low almost too low that my H pipe and longtubes scrape sometimes.

Looks about right. I have the same springs on mine and from looking at my pics they look about the same. My front may be a tiny bit lower but not much at all.

did you put the springs in by removing the A arm bolts or by the strut bolts? Also, when you don't get the pigtail end of the spring perfectly into the recess in the lower a arm, it will do that. And last question, did you buy these new or used?

I've got the pro kit springs on my coupe...the front always sat nice and low but it was always raked. I ended up cutting 3/4 coil off the back and that leveled it out nicely. You probably wanted something like the sportline springs which will slam it down really low.

The springs are new...I dropped the strut...I am pretty sure the end of the coil is correct in the a arm pocket...

My wife just pointed something else out to me as well..the passenger side is in a dip in the drive way which would slightly raise the drivers side...if the weather ever cleans up I'll get this thing out on flat ground and look again...I have 17" 245's tires in the front..and the 17" 315's in the back...anyone else have this combo with the Eibach springs...I am curious what the fender lip to the ground is?
chris91
01-17-2010, 05:44 PM
Mine is the same minus the 315's in the rear. I have the same springs as you. Here is a pic of mine from the side.

Before I go and tear the spring out and put it back in because there isn't anything else I can do...is there anything I should check? I have no idea what it could be...also it's not just the front, the rear looks like it is to high as well....crap

i did some research before i lowered mine awhile ago and got mixed reviews on those springs, quite of few people said they didnt see much difference and some people did..I ended up going with H&R's and was pretty happy with the stance..

I must have magic springs because my Vogtland springs settled almost .25" over the first ten days and I was informed from the manufacturer they could (most likely would) settle. I think my Steeda springs settled a bit on one of my older Capris as well . . . . .
Could have just been an exception rather than the rule . . . .

Just put k sports on my girlfriends car. dropped it like 1.8 inches at first after driving for a while now. 2.2 sits on its nut sack.

I have lowered several trucks and have seen the same thing...Eibach instructions even says drive the vehicle hard for approx 10 miles to allow for this. Who knows..

Wasn't much of a change...just seemed to raise the back up and lower the front a tad. I later took out the isolators and it dropped a little more. I'm not sure i agree when people say springs don't settle over time. It won't happen over night or even if a few weeks but over time they definitely get lower. My car is definitely lower today than that pic above even without tripping 3/4 off the rear springs.
(there is a bit of an optical illusion with how the 2nd pic has more light underneath it)

Been on the phone with Eibach tech..I measured fender lip to wheel center...now mind you I wanted them to tell me what it was suppose to be before I told them what I got... I was .1 off and the rear is lower by .05 so go figure...can't say you get what you pay for....

Maybe the settling issue has something to do with progressive rate vs. specific rate springs?

Ok...one more question..If I pull out the rubber isolators...what can I expect? A little lower, a lot of noise? Squeaking? etc...??

I didn't run any isolators at all on my 01' Cobra because I knew the springs with the isolators wasn't going to give me enough drop. I didn't notice any noise or extra harshness whatsoever, but those were H&R race springs with an IRS.

Negative, rode fine for me. I can honestly say I hardly noticed any difference at all in ride quality over stock. This was a daily driver too.

To be honest, the isolators only last a year or so before the springs squish through to the control arms...doesn't matter what brand or material you use. Every rubber set i've pulled off were destroyed, and when i originally installed my Eibachs i put in Energy Suspension urethane isolators and when i took the rears out to cut the coils they had smashed through and it was metal to metal. This did take a few years but i suspect that after a year or so they were already through. I'd say 99.99% of the Fox Mustangs out there with original springs on them are metal to metal right now.

Well if I do decide to cut the springs...how much should I cut off? I don't want it dragging the ground...however I do want the low look.

I'm hesitant to even offer advice on this one so you really need to do so at your own risk. I've cut stock springs with so so results. The first time i cut too much and my wheels where tucked into the fenders and my headers where about an inch off of flat ground.
With my Eibachs i didn't cut the fronts at all because it sat low enough. It had a raked stance which i'm not a big fan of so i cut about 3/4 of a coil off the rear springs and that leveled it out pretty nice.
DO NOT take my advice on this one. Just remember that you can't put it back after you cut it off....so you may wanna bite the bullet and cut 1/2 coil and put them back in and drive it around a little and see how it sits, then repeat if necessary. Don't try to cut corners and take off a whole coil or you'll probably regret it and be buying another set of springs.

Well I believe I am going to wait until spring or at least good weather so I can put a couple of miles on it...also I took a couple more pics this evening in the garage and I think it may look a little lower then it did when sitting in the driveway..mainly because the driveway isn't even or level....
